I am about to send my Adjustment of Status package and my husband, an USC, is my sponsor. All his docs (ID, tax, bank statements, savings, etc) have our NC address, where he has lived all his life, but 3 weeks ago he accepted a job here in Kansas and we moved to here (it is only a contract job and it will last a few months, then we come back to NC).

On the form I-864ez, Part 3, they ask the "Mailing Address" and "Place of Residence (if different from mailing address)". I know that this question is especially for who is living out of the US temporarily, but can meet the domicile requirement. But, do you guys think my husband should include his NC address on the "Place of Residence", and we both include our Kansas address on the "Mailing Address" (I on the Part 2 and him on the Part 3)?

I know we will still be here by the time I get my biometrics appointment, but not sure about the interview. So, I'm planning go to the biometric appointment and as soon after, change back our address to our NC one. Do you think this is a good plan? Any insight?

We really appreciate!

What visa are you adjusting from? Your profile says you are filing for a spousal visa and filed an I-130 petition and that your consulate is Rio de Janeiro, but you are asking about AOS and living in the US already.

You need to list the mailing address so that you can receive any mailings while in Kansas. You can put in change of address when you go back to NC and make sure you get confirmation that they have changed it so you do not miss any mail. OR, you can list a relative or good friend for the mailing address and have them receive your mail for you so you never need to worry about missing important immigration mail.

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I was going through a consular process, but things changed and during a trip to US we decided to adjust my status. We have our I-130 approved. I'm adjusting from B2-visitor visa.

Regarding the addresses, my only concern is when they schedule my appointments (biometrics and interview), and that is the reason I need to put my Kansas address right now to send the package (since I'll still be here by the time I need to go to the biometric appointment). But, for the interview, I need to do it in NC, and then I need to change.

But right now, when I'm filling the forms, should my husband put on his I-864ez form both address? Our Kansas on the mailing and our NC on residency address?

Thanks again!

Sure. Like I said, just make sure to get confirmation from the USCIS when putting in an address change with them, so you do not miss any important mailings from them. Otherwise, you could choose a friend or relative to use as the mailing address and get the mail from them throughout the process without worrying about changing addresses.
