Roy Ortiz, an illegal immigrant living in Colorado, was recently rescued from dangerous flood waters by first responders. Now Ortiz, who barely speaks English, is thinking about suing them because "mistakes were made." The argument? Rescuers failed to get him out of a submerged car fast enough and now he's having bad dreams. Ortiz is demanding $500,000 in damages which if awarded, would be paid out by taxpayers.

Should take 1000 miles past where he is originally from and make him work his way a lot farther next time he comes. Get a couple of the transports planes from Fort Benning's jump school along with some chutes, I think having to make a low altitude combat jump over thick jungle canopy will make them think twice about a return trip to the USA illegally.

Perhaps it's been lost in this echo chamber that his undocumented status is only alleged. His lawyer was asked a question about it and refused to answer the question on camera because it was, in the lawyer's opinion, not germane. A Fox reporter has said that the lawyer told her off-camera that the plaintiff was undocumented. Quite frankly, we don't know the status of the plaintiff. None of this is actually relevant to the matter that the suit is ridiculous.

You do know you sound quite ridiculous, right? I deal in hyperbole when it suits my purposes, but this is a little de trop, no? Furthermore, many Hispanic people are white (myself included). Or do you mean the right kind of white?

The reporter had an 81% chance of getting it right compared to a 9% chance if he asked an Asian person. He was just using good math.

Second, do you think it's right that anyone who appears to be of Hispanic origin should have their immigration status challenged under similar circumstances, or in any circumstances where the status is not germane to the issue at hand?
