 You funny. How can be kept at a high level what starts with a piece from the gutter?

So, an article about a $100m donation to a hospital and the union protesting against it is a piece from the gutter?

I guess union hypocrisy just can't be publicised, without attracting insults. :(

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

The freebeacon is the gutter - aka part of the right wing echo chamber. Anything pulled from there would be from the gutter. Not that hard, is it?

Just can't stand it when a source you dislike comes out with a truth you'd rather not have to face, can you?

The gift comes not without irony. Koch, in his leadership role at Koch Industries, Inc., oversees an industrial conglomerate with a portfolio of petroleum refining, fuel pipelines, coal supply and trading, oil and gas exploration, and petrochemicals and polymers. These industries produce the fossil fuels and petrochemical products that are the primary cause of climate change, which made Superstorm Sandy worse.

Koch is also bankrolling [PDF] a multimillion-dollar misinformation campaign against climate change science, funding think tanks and lobbying groups that deny the impacts of climate change and fossil fuel’s role in creating it. In one example, Koch gave $800,000 to the Manhattan Institute, a conservative-libertarian think tank in New York City. After Superstorm Sandy, Manhattan Institute scholar Robert Bryce penned an op-ed claiming “the most hopeful sound of [sandy] recovery is the joyous racket that comes from an internal-combustion engine burning fossil fuels.”

NewYork-Presbyterian declined to comment on whether the hospital is comfortable accepting millions of dollars from a donor whose companies create the conditions for future superstorms.

Maybe this is the reason for the outrage.

So they're angry about his donation because he doesn't believe in climate change?

Could be. I was trying to find this story from a unbiased source. The only other source that seems to have some insight would be:

Looks like they have their haters, but the money is going to help those in need.

Yeah that was my thought. If the money is helping sick folks, why complain about it?

Anyone who does not believe in cLimate cHange should not only be silenced, but put in jail. That's settled science, right?

An assistant professor of philosophy at Rochester Institute of Technology believes that those who spread misinformation about climate change should be found criminally negligent and punished. By misinformation, of course, he means views passed on in writing by climate change skeptics, like LU’s own Jeff Dunetz. Lawrence Torcello, the teacher in question, never gets around to passing sentence on people who misinform the public in the other direction — the name Al Gore comes to mind — but we’ll come back to that later.

I don't know enough about the Koch Brothers to speak on it accurately, but I'd wager it's not the money they're mad about.

He's no friend of the unions, that's for sure. Still doesn't make sense to protest about free money to help sick people just because the guy doesn't like unions.

I'm no fan of unions, but if they felt the need to throw a few bucks my way, I wouldn't protest about it. tongue.png

Of course, you have no morals.devil.gif

I guess if I'm passionate about something and someone who was diametrically opposed to what I believed in would try and give me money, I might not take it.
