Hi everybody! I have a question. Has anybody dealt with the situation that during your immigration process the American Embassy was evacuated from your country 'cause of military threat or teract threat? It's not the case in my home country, Ukraine, but I'm afraid it may happen. What am I or my husband to do if it is the case? Are there any special procedures or steps taken in such situation?
Our case is currently at the NVC and we're waiting to get our case number. Please share your experience or knowledge about the abovementioned situation.

It really is a wait and see thing. Look at Egypt. They wait upwards now 8 months for interview. If it becomes too bad it will be like Syria they can go to Yemen to Interview.

They may do something special this is quite a whole new thing. I am sure immigration visa's won't be priority one.

I thought Syria was being processed in Amman, Jordan - with some things in Beirut?

I imagine you'll probably see a spike in requests - making it take longer to get an interview as dwheels has mentioned. There's no guarantee that the U.S. embassy would close in the event of an invasion anyways. The closure of the embassy in Syria wasn't necessarily just because of the threat of the conflict/civil war - it could just as much have been a snub against the regime.

You may want to look at Georgia as another example - it's a country the U.S. supports, Russia invaded, I believe our embassy was open during the crisis and functioning relatively as normal. There are some accusations that Russian intelligence set off a bomb near the embassy in Tbilisi - so it may not be the safest situation. The U.S. may pull out family of staff members, they may not be able to rapidly deal with an influx of consular matters, and American citizen services would likely take priority.
