Most economical way of bringing possessions to USA from Phil?

The date is coming near where my fiancé and her daughter will come to usa and I have been asking her what she plans to bring with her. She will give things like bed, tv, cooking utensils and other things like that to her family. She wants to bring her clothes and other personal things. Im guessing this will amount to a number of additional pieces of luggage and or boxes.

Has anyone else done this and what is the most economical way of doing this? Is it cheaper to ship it back to usa?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Be careful with electronics.

The US and PI does not use the same tv system.

Best to sell all electronics (including hair dryers and curling irons) and buy new stuff in the US.

Also, it may cost you more to ship rather than just buying new in the US.

Yep that's why we are leaving all those things behind.

I suggest that in the short term and long term,

it's cheaper to pay for the extra baggage or heavier baggage,

for the air flight, instead of shipping stuff.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

It's not economical to bring a lot of stuff to the US in my opinion. I'll only bring one luggage and that's it. i'm not even gonna bring a ton of clothes, personal stuff, etc. but that's just me. It's too much trouble for me to worry about boxes and paying extra for excess baggage. I can buy stuff in there anyway so why worry about it? I know there are things she's going to miss back home but it is what it is, you know. she's migrating to another country so she better get used to not having everything she has back home.

With my wife and our kids, we had travelled and lived in other country before we filed this IR1/IR2 application. Since K1 visa will be a long term plan, I suggest not to bring tons of clothes. Clothes in the US are affordable as long as she is not into that "LABEL CONSCIOUS" fashion. My wife and I have this habit of not taking tons of childrens clothes because with our experience kids grew up so fast and before you know it they will ran out of clothes to wear because they outgrow them. She can leave her clothes and acquire new sets here in the states and some of it will be accurate for our type of weather in the states.

Thanks everyone. Im guessing it will be a few extra luggage so i will just pay for the extra baggage and replace what the girls need when they get here.

Labels? We have a "Tar-zhay" or target right down the street yes.gif
