It should be original...

If it is extremely neccessary to send in copy or fax...just write a statement and then to be on the safe side have your mate mail a original copy to you so if they request an original you can provide it to them in a hurry!!!!!!!

Why only photocopies? If I am not mistaken you should have sent the originals.

 Especially since these letters are something made especifically for the process, it's not some document you need to have at home.

Exactly... you can send photocopies of birth certificates etc because a) you don't want USCIS keeping the originals and b ) you don't want the originals getting lost, but you need to be prepared to show the originals (or certified copies) if asked to do so. But why wouldn't you send the original of a letter you write and sign yourself? It's not as though you can't run off another copy as and when you need it... why would you write and sign the letter, and then send USCIS a photocopy?!

Send the original. Same goes for the G325A form. My fiancee used FedEx to get her statement of intent and G325A to me. It only took a two days to get them and it only cost about $25.

REALLY? :o:huh::blush::( We didn't know. We thought it's ok to submit photocopies of the letters of intent. The only originals that we sent were the forms, my birth certificate, Divorce Decrees/Death Certificate and the rest, including the letters of intent to marry were all photocopies. Well darn it, I guess we should anticipate an RFE in the coming days. :(:(
