Who would have thought I would receive a notification on a Saturday!

On Thursday, March 13th, I re-submitted my request for an expedite due to the situation in Ukraine. Today, I received notification that my application is now under expedited review!

2 times the charm!

My first submission was denied due to Tier-1 error. This was discovered by the Tier-2 agent I spoke with to try and understand why it was denied. I had to wait 5-business days to re-apply. That is what I did and now it was approved.

Make sure you give the agent, Tier-1 or Tier 2, detailed specifics about the criteria you are using for this request. Detail..detail...detail! Make sure the agent reads back what you want entered. Keep it concise, but to the point.

I requested under 2 items: Financial hardship and Humanitarian

I am happy they actioned so quickly. Only bad piece in the notification is that something will be done within 45 days....I was hoping for a little quicker, but this will definitely help us be together quicker.

Let the journey continue!

patri......It was the detail in the 2 criteria that was not written the first time. Financial hardship and Humanitarian were the 2 I applied under.

Due to the current crisis in Ukraine, I stated that I would be traveling there to make sure my future family was safe and taken care of. To do this I will be needing to take time away from my work, unpaid....this would require me to reallocate funds and put in jeopardy my home, IRA, etc.

Humanitarian I spoke to the severe stress that a single mother with 2 children is going thru, the unknown status of the embassy if the crisis worsens(not saying our embassy would close, but operations could be scaled back possibly eliminating consular services). Getting children out of possible harms way and live a life as a family without the threat of violence and unrest.

This is a sample of what I wrote and then communicated to the agent.
