My husband and I are in the process of getting together all the information for the I-130 form to bring to the Embassy in Mexico City.

For the affidavits, do you use the I-134 form, or just write a letter? I have seen the formal format for an affidavit letter for 3rd party, but then have also seen this form that asks much more detailed information about taxes and income.

I know we have to give that information at some point, but is it when we turn in the I-130, or at a later time in the process?

Thank you!

I-134 form has the word 'affidavit' in it,

but

that's not the type of affidavit these folk will prepare for you.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

So... they my 3rd party affidavits just need to be a letter? And I don't need to provide financial information with the I-130?

When you file your I-130 with Mexico City you are basically just proving the identities of the US citizen and the Mexican citizen. You are also proving you are legally married and have a real relationship. The financial stuff is presented at the interview. I can give you a list of everything you need to file the I-130 and a list for the interview.

Such affidavits are not a requirement and carry little to zero weight to begin with. Focus more on evidence of time spend together in person (I'm surmising you have plenty of it since you are filing via DCF) and don't waste your time with the affidavits.

Other evidence would include photos? Text conversations? Emails? Cell phone bills showing we corresponded?

Does anyone know if all of those would have to be translated, as we mostly communicate in Spanish? I know I have read that official documents in other languages need to be translated, but casual correspondences as well?

Thank you!

Casual correspondence does not need to be translated.

However, when I say other evidence, yes I was referring to photos. But in a DCF case, I would refer to things that show you live together such as any agreements, bills, etc. It's not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination if you don't have the items I just mentioned but if you do, then that is better evidence than the affidavits.
