Good day! smile.png

First of all I just wanted to say that I appreciate your advice and suggestions. Thank you so much for your time! Here's my story about my case.

I am US citizen, illegitimate child and a military housewife. After 10 years of residing here in the US I finally decided to petition my dad who are currently in the Philippines. I filed his petition last year March 25, 2013. On March 28, 2013 I received the receipt (FORM I-797C). After almost 8 months of waiting I received another notice of action indicating that my case was transferred to CSC (California Service Center) to speed up the process. ClockWatch2.gif

December 3, 2013 I received a letter from USCIS-CSC requiring me to submit an evidence. Couple weeks later I mailed the required documents such as: birth certificate, baptismal certificate, school records, 2 pictures of me and my dad when I was 4 and 8 years old. On Feb. 3, 2014 I received another Request for Evidence. Clearly, the papers I sent was not enough. Since I have nothing else to send that they don't have I've decided to take the DNA testing for dad and I.

On March 12, 2014 DNA lab received both of our dna samples. The next day, they completed and got the result. On the same day they mailed the result to CSC. March 14, 2014 they received the result and currently being reviewed.

According to the letter I must wait 60 days from the day they received my response for decision making. So here are my few questions that I hope some of you can give me advice and what should I do next.

  • What will be my next step if ever I get my case approved?
  • What are the fees that I'll be expecting?
  • From this day, how long will it take until this whole case is done normally?
  • Because of my husband's work-related. Is it possible that my dad's destination will be in Hawaii with my mom while I as a petitioner here in Georgia?

wow! you actually have to go thru the trouble of gettinga DNA test done?!!? that's ridiculous.....the birth certificate you sent....is it a LONG form, which has your mom and dads name on the certificate??

you shouldn't have had to go thru the trouble of getting a DNA test done just to prove you and your dad are related. Surely the RFE was specific on what they were asking....?

Yes. My mom and dad's name are on my birthday certificate. It is ridiculous situation indeed! Like I said, I don't have anything else that they do not have. Even the birth certificate I sent was from NCSO (National Census and Statistics Office).

I've been waiting long enough for this case to be over. I mean some of the case I read and encountered took less than a year. Mine will be exactly 1 year the end of this month and it's not even half way done. I'm just glad that the DNA test is out of my hair. Decision is what I am waiting for now that could take at least 2 months.

well i hope for the hassle you have had to go thru to get the DNA test done that they approve and get you onto the next step of the process. Maybe you can ask to expedite your case?? idk

Thanks! I hope so too! I don't think there's is such thing as expediting the case without any valid reason.. Like health issues or something.

Anyone?

I see that it's finally approved. Congratulations!!!

Next steps:

- wait for the case number ( I got the number about 6 weeks after the approval)

- you will get AOS ( Affidavit of Support) Invoice in the mail

- pay AOS fee $88

- fill out Form DS-261 online ( Choice of Address and Agent)

- fill out Form I-864 and gather all supporting documents ( I just mailed mine and hoping there's no RFE )

Good luck smile.png.
