PCC is probably the most difficult part of the process. Apply for the PCC as early as possible.

You need to apply online at the passport site. Pay the 500 rupees fee and take an appointment. You need NOT wait till the appointment date. You can also visit the RPO instead of the PCC, in case RPO is nearer.

Just take your original passport and copy to the PCC. Tell the guard you are there for PCC and website says appointments are not required.

If your passport verification is already done, you should get your PCC there and then. If not, they will reinitiate verification. This is where it got hard for us.

We had to go to the police station and get the verification done. We didn't bribe the official the first time around and we didn't get the clearance, they wrote ' less than one year at present address' (which was true, but verification was being done at all addresses over the past year.

We then went back and 'appealed' to the guy following which he became very cooperative and PCC was issued in a week.

Thank you very much.

So if I go to RPO office after filling the form in PASSPORT website( i.e. passport seva kendra I assume) and paying 500 RS I should get it same day?

But right now we live in Bangalore which is less then 6 months and my wife lived all her life in Delhi and passport is from Delhi.

So if I go to Bangalore RPO should I get the PCC for her and should I get one from Delhi also or just from Bangalore is enough?

Regarding medical test, I see there are centers only in mumbai, gujrath and chennai so nearest for me from bangalore is chennai.

Should I go and get medical test also now itself?

Does medical test seek any letter from US consulate or we can just say we need the medical test done?

Since your current address is not the same as on Passport, you will not get the PCC immediately. The officer will initiate verification on Bangalore address and a police verification will be done for the 6 month period in which you have stayed in Bangalore. PV will probably not be done in Delhi as you already have a clear passport verification status for Delhi.

Medical Report needs the letter or email from consulate that has the case number. Until you get such a letter or email that has a visa case number e.g. BMB2014XXXXXX , you cannot get the medical done.

@vbgeet21

On second thought, Police Verification MAY be done in Delhi also as I believe they do it for all addresses in last year. You don't get to choose where they do it, the office has the authority to initiate PV in ant police station in all of India. He may directly initiate it for both Delhi and Bangalore.

In case you can produce records showing 1 yr stay in Bangalore, that would permit you to apply for PCC stating that you have lived in Bangalore alone for the past year and PV would be easier. To avoid going to Delhi, you may want to consult a passport agent with your case and ask his advice.

@GoChicago,

Thanks a lot I got email reply from Delhi USCIS office that my 1-130 petition approved and has been forwarded to American Consulate Mumbai.

So how soon you think I get the email from mumbai consulate?

regarding PCC passport agents suggested me to get from Delhi itself which is safer and faster as person lived entire life there.

I'm curious to know did you setup your appointment with US consulate in mumbai after all your paper work done or US consulate fixed appointment for you to attend?

I Dont know the time difference between receipt and sending mail because I never got any communication regarding approval from Delhi. Probably a couple days. I do know that they get a hard copy from Delhi because they had all the photographs I attached to my petition in Delhi.

Will the consulate accept a PCC from Delhi ? Shouldn't city on PCC match the address on the visa application?

Consulate does not fix appointments from Jan 1 2014. Once you get your case number in email from consulate, you have to create a profile on ustraveldocs.com and schedule a visa appointment and a finger printing appointment. They have to be on two separate days, the fingerprinting needs to be done before interview. So you can fly to Mumbai for two days and do fingerprinting one day and interview the next. These appointments are readily available. So get your PCC and medical done first and prepare all docs well and only once you're confident, take the appointment.

yes I asked the same question to PASSPORT consultant/agent that if I get PCC from delhi but presently my wife live in Bangalore so will it have problem?

He mentioned it is not even 6 months in Bangalore and RPO when it gives PCC it covers entire India so getting from Delhi RPO covers your stay in entire India itself so consulate will consider it. In case if I try from Bangalore it can take 2 to 3 weeks as they will forward it to Delhi passport office as where ever you got passport will have all your verified records.

So what you think?

My friend, not yet I have heard from Mumbai.

The email from USCIS delhi was " your I-130 is processed and forwarded to US consulate, mumbai. please allow them couple of weeks to create your case and come back before checking status with them"

so not sure is this USCIS regular email or what.

Should I check status with Mumbai consulate?

Did Delhi write down your email address on the petition? I remember for us she asked us the email and wrote it in the Margin of the i130. Otherwise it takes a couple of weeks for the letter to arrive by post. You can ask Delhi for the A-number, and try to use that to ask Mumbai or ustraveldocs.com about the status.

Please let me know what is the email id to which I can contact Mumbai consulate about this?

<support-india@ustraveldocs.com> OR <MUMBAIIV@state.gov>

Again, A# you mean my A# on citizenship form? or is this a special number?

Not your A#. A new one will be allotted to your wife, now that the case is approved.
