Hello all and please pardon my ignorance. I recently had my I-130 approved by USCIS and while doing my reserach online, it seems the US Consulate in Montreal is the only consulate that handles IV immigrant visa interviews in Canada.

would this be a true statement?

I live in Calgary and i am just been proactive and thing ahead. I would appreciate any and all responses.

Thanks.....

yes Montreal is the only place you can go to do a visa interview.

For me, as someone who also lived in Alberta, I went to Montreal for about 8 days and did my medical and interview in one go. Depending on flights at the time you could go back and forth from Montreal twice. I found Medisys to be an easy place to get the medical done because the medical, lab test, and xray are all in the same building. Heck they're in the same section of the same building! It does take 3 days to get the results back however.

I highly suggest studying this guide: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_for_Montreal_Beneficiaries_%E2%80%93_Electronic_Processing_and_New_Online_Forms

Yep the cr-1 visa is Montreal only. The Calgary embassy does nothing for us.

I worked out the cost of going to Surrey and Montreal or just Montreal for the week. It was cheaper to just go to Montreal for the week.

Oh wow.

So youre saying the medicals can only be done in Surrey or Montreal. Are there no designted USA doctors in Alberta.

Also if you dont mind, is their a major difference between certified and a notarized copy they will be requesting?

I only have notarized copies at the moment ,so maybe i should start looking at getting notarized copies.

Certified is a copy from the issuer certified to be an exact copy of the original. A notarized copy is not acceptable.

There are also 3 panel physicians in Ontario. Take a moment to look at the Montreal embassy page on this website. It has all the info you need about panel physicians. Look up user Saylin, she has maps etc to the consulate. Also there is a specific Montreal wiki that I suggest you read. Canadian beneficiaries have the benefit of something called electronic processing.
