There isn't a single, simple solution. However, I definitely favour changing the emphasis on criminality from heavily punishing relatively small financial delinquency to focusing more on anti-social behaviours. Clearly murderers, thugs organised criminals need to be treated differently than the old woman who steals handkerchiefs from the local store. That there are people in prison for petty crime is simply ridiculous, they are not a danger to society and their behaviours can be treated if people care to bother.

You seem to fail to grasp a simply fact. Poverty doesn't lead to criminality but most incarcerated are poor. Go figure that out.

Look at the thug life....why are there so many gangs.Why are there gangs period.... They are looking for family that the cannot find at home.... It is all down hill from there. Do a little polar bear hunting to get in ... you know knock a 80 year old white woman down with a sucker punch and stomp on her face so her children cannot even recognize her. ... Then you can get into the gang and the real thug life begins, The breakdown of moral character is what causes this problem... Near me 100 people saw a woman beaten to death on the streets...The arrest took over 3 years... 3 years... Don't snitch in the hood. even if one of your own is dead. .. Lack of moral character.....pure and simple.

As I mentioned in my previous posts, there is something that can be addressed right now. There is empirical evidence that children who grow up in single parent homes will face a litany of social problems, including low income, and low achievement. This is especially true where the father is absent and the mother cares for the children by herself. When the black community accepts this, they can begin to address it.

Let me ask a question of you Janelle. What do you think is the best thing for black parents to do to help their children be successful in life?

First, the parent need to know to survive in a world where many people hate them. The older generation blacks kept to themselves, stayed in the poor ghettos they were forced into and rarely ventured out. A perpetual cycle. All whites are not evil and are willing to give chances. This has helped some of the blacks who are sucessful today. The second is to read up on things. I graduated at 16 years old. I was smart however my mother was cluessless as how to help me with college. People that work in black schools back then were just happy to get the kids to graduate, they never thought about trying to get us to colkege. Thry felt they had accomplished plenty just if they could get someone to graduate. I didnt find out about the ACT until my last year of school. Talking about no time to prepare!!!!

Black people are extremely prideful and at the same time sensitive. I have had to indure some nasty, hateful downright rude things to continue to ascend instead of descend. And my daughter has as well going to a school thatis 97% white. I have taught her, let this people talk about you, they can laugh at you, as long as they do not touch you. You will hsve the last laugh in the end because you are smart and intelligent. I have taught her to never fight her battles on her own, that is what I, and I repeat I am here for. Black people need to learn how to respond more with intelligence instead of emotions and I even have a hard time with this one. And I love how her teachers attempt to speak to me in a condescending tone and I have to correct them. Black parents need to go to these schools more, show their face more, show that they are not going to allow their kids to ve shuffled into the back of the classroom and be ignored. So what if the s c hool is irritated. They will know you are there by your child.

But for the parent thats working 5 part time jobs how can they do this? And dont tell me they shouldnt have had kids because thats not fair to a person who love and adore kids. They have as much right to have one or 2 as anybody else.

There have always been gangs. Maybe the most famous of them were the gladiators. I am sure many saw the movie, 'Gangs of New York' but if any read the book itself it described the different gangs from back to the founding to the recent decades.

Poor has Nothing to do with it. Go to some parts of Kentucky and see what poor really is, no one is killing people on a daily basis there. Deflection from the real truth will not solve the problem..

So, are you saying that only blacks commit murder? I could see your point if only blacks were commiting murder in the U.S. period. When do you see other races blaming all whites when a white person commits a crime? NEVER

Why is that a black issue? Again, there is nothing at all wrong with looking to see if there are things that need to be done to help single parent families but unless there is a correlation between being incarcerated and being from a single parent family you are not addressing the causes of disproportionate numbers of black people being incarcerated.

There are programs addressing the gang issue and I can definitely tell you that they are not successfully addressing this issue by making sure all children have two parents. You have to prove correlations in order to resolve problems, not take mad stabs in the dark based on unsubstantiated opinion.

Gangs are invented because people feel the need to belong to something. After constantly being told you do not fit, belong, you are not a human, you are lower than an animal, gangs appeased to people who wanted a home and a sense of belonging. You should learn more psychology so you can understand how the average human brain works.

The dont snitch in the hood has nothing to do with lack of morals but more to do with who will protect you if you do? The same person who continues to stop and frisk you just for attempting to walk to school? The same people who humiliated your little sister by turning her to a crowd of people and slowly groped her body parts in front of people so her humiliation can last for what seems to be hours? I am not the first or the last. But some people do not have the strength to deal with the humiliation it constantly takes us to suceed. No human being should have to deal with this, regardless of race.

If you are concerned, do this one thing please. The next time you are out, try a conversation with a black man or woman who dont appear to ve ghetto. A genuine conversation. Watch the shock that will come up on their face and the confusion as they try to determine if you are genuine or not. We are not used to people attempting to be nice to us. It is so rare.

Deflect the obvious? Prove it if it is so obvious. You want everyone to believe that the solution to black incarceration is single parent families but you don't want to prove the correlation. As to the rest, that's not an argument, it's an attempt to get personal - leave it out.
