A 20-year-old man from Los Angeles has been arrested after promising to shoot someone if his post was retweeted 100 times on Twitter.

Dakkari Dijon McAnuff uploaded a picture to the micro-blogging service showing a rifle pointing down a street from the top of a building. The caption read “100 RT's and I shoot someone walking,” according to reports from the LA Times.

A subsequent tweet included a picture appearing to show a wounded man with the caption from McAnuff’s Twitter account (now suspended) reading “Man Down. Mission Completed.”

Police were alerted to the pictures and quickly tracked McAnuff to his home on the 700 block of West Ninth Street in downtown LA. McAnuff was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats with a bail set at $50,000.

Thankfully, the police later determined that the pictures were posted as a joke, with McAnuff’s gun revealed to be a relatively harmless airsoft rifle.

The picture contained in the original tweet was reposted by local news editor Julie Sone, although social media accounts associated with McAnuff shows him posing with what appears to be as similar rifle.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

That's all you have to say? It's ok for him to point a gun at strangers because it's only a joke and not a 'real' gun? Why am I not surprised?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

One of my friends shot me in the calf with an airsoft once. Those things are no joke.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

I think this guy was just afraid for his life and it's a shame he didn't shoot anyone. That's what Texas and Florida thinks, at least.

Kinda reminds me watching the First 48. I'm always saying, thank God most criminals are idiots. If the guy was smart he could have at least made an anonymous twitter account. If he was even an IQ notch higher he could have spoofed his location to a rooftop in another city. headbonk.gif
