OK. Again… thank you so much for the replies. This website is really a lifesaver so that I wouldn’t have to go with the unnecessary step of hiring an immigration lawyer. In my opinion, there is NO overdoing it. Details, depth, and presentation do factor in a consular officer’s decision. Particularly in cases like mine where one crucial piece is missing: previous years of income. As far as I know, it is, unfortunately, NOT our right (as US citizens) to bring a foreign fiancé to the US….so I’m willing to jump through whatever hoops they place.

I don’t recall exactly where I read it but I specifically remember that EVERY page of the passport must be COLORED copied. I don’t want to spread misinformation so maybe some experts can weigh in on that.I am going to print and send the letters to my fiancé. So it appears DHL is actually the best option. Where does my fiancé ship the letter back to me and which company is actually in VN (Ha Noi)? Why can’t my fiancé simply print, sign, and send to me? Does she need that $50 notary seal from the consulate?I didnt plan on sending any pictures (except g325a passport) so Im glad you guys told me beforehand! I will do the 6/side on photo paper. I had thought we didn’t need them until interview.

Yeah I guess I might as well get 2 birth certificates while I wait for my fiancé to send the signed letters.

Can anyone confirm 100% that my fiancé cannot be interviewed in Hanoi for K1 visa?

Assuming I have everything completed, signed, and sent properly by March 24. Is December 25, 2014 a realistic timeframe to expect my fiancé to actually arrive here in the US?

I hope to be able to share our success story with the community.

You do not need to print your passport in color. The reason why people recommend you to print all page is that if you have any passport stamp or visa in your passport, then it will indicate that it is your passport ( because it had the right number of page).

She can use DHL or VietNam post office ( EMS) to send mail to you. You DONT need to send it to her in mail, you just need to send it through Email. So she can print it out and sign then send it back by Post Office. The only time that you need to send documents through mail are that the documents which require Your Original Signature such as I-134 ( You will need to send it later to you near to interview stage).

Hanoi and HCM, I am not sure this so you might want to contact the Embassy in Hanoi to find out. Here is what I found from Embassy in Hanoihttp://vietnam.usembassy.gov/mobile/immigrant_visas.html. It seems that your fiancee will interview in HCM Consulate. If you submit your I-129F that will process at TSC or CSC, then it is possible that your fiancee will come to US for Christmas.

DO I have to send my entire application to the Dallas address (PO Box 660151 Dallas, TX 75266)? There is a local UCSIS field office here in Denver but on the official USCIS website it gives the Dallas dropbox address.

Thanks for your reply.. I really do appreciate it :D My fiance has no work history for the g325A …. Will this be a problem? She has only tutored English on her own … on g325A it asks for employer/employer address.

For her address history I just put her parent’s house/ family book info which was only 2 addresses: her family sold their house and bought another one 2 years ago. I did not include all the little roomshares she lived in during college.

By the way DHL is awesome… they told my fiance that with 550,000 VND global express I'll get it in 5 days!

Her work history is not important and I would put down housekeeper or something like that on G325A and her home address as employer's address.

I did not include my wife's short term address at all because she did not remember it lol.

I used USPS and DHL(56 dollar for 2 bussiness days to major cities such as HCM, Hanoi) in the past to send documents to Vietnam. Surprisingly, DHL has the same price as USPS but DHL deliveries way faster than USPS. DHL has the office in Vietnam, and they are friendly and helpful. You can ship to DHL's office either Hanoi or HCM for your convenience and she can come picking it up at their office.

If somebody could please respond:

My fiancé has already sent me the Letter of intent to marry (2 of them)… I typed it all out from her (the beneficiary) perspective. Today, I had my letter of intent notarized. In short, I have 2 seperate/distinct letters of intent adjoining the same event (intent to marriage). Does this work or do I need to have her sign and send a letter of intent from BOTH of our perspectives that I then need to sign??

Part of my cover page reads as follows: ....

  • Certified copy of my birth certificate
  • Notarized letter certifying intent to marry (Petitioner)
  • Letter certifying intent to marry with original signature (Beneficiary).
  • Proof of having met in person in the past two years: passport entries, copies of hotel and flight itineraries. Photographical evidence.
  • Proof of ongoing relationship: copies of financial support documents; visa entry documents; hotel itineraries.

I used an example form of Letter of Intent in this forum and modified them a bit to have 2 letter of intents. The first letter is where she will marry me within 90 days of her arrival and she signed it by herself ( original signature). The second letter is where I will marry her within 90 days of her arrival and I signed it ( original signature ). She signed on her letter of intent and I signed on my letter of intent.

You dont need to include the financial document.

Well almost done with the first part ….lol

I am still waiting to receive the letters from her…she sent with DHL. As soon as I get it I will submit this part. Then I will send her the ENTIRE packet that I sent… and then we can work on the things the embassy will need…including the I134, her criminal record check VN, single status VN,,,, and work on her vaccinations for medical. A lot of hard work ahead… I know it is all worth it though biggrin.png

Single status is easy to obtain and it can be done in the same day. Note that this single status will expire in 6 months, so you dont need to obtain it so early. I would obtain the police record # 2 after you send I-129 F in about 3 months.

Do you include the timeline of your relationship in I-129F?

My absolute final questions here… I got my fiance’s g325 and picture and letter of intent from dhl yesterday. Should I make a copy of the packaging to prove that she actually sent them to me? She made 4 originals and also has 4 passport pictures. I am going to include 2 of her passport pictures and she wrote “phot of ‘her name’ on the back of them. So I am placing these in a ziplock and stapling to a paper titled “photo of her name” Now I also have placed my $340 payment in a ziplock plastic bag paper clipped behind the cover page. My coverpage is signed. I only signed/dated the last page (page 6) of the I 129f apllication and every page of the “part 2. Q 34 a supplement.” I feel/think I need to at least initial pages 1-5 or maybe just sign them too… just in case? Now I have 2 notarized timelines so I will send one original and then send the other to my fiancé. But I only have one notarized letter of intent (from me) …so should I send the original to UCSIS and send my fiancé a copy …or vice versa?

I made a black and white copy of my entire passport and it was a total of 18 pages. I also included color copies on photo paper for my “evidence” section. I just went to Walgreens and printed out all the pictures 3 times. I am sending one set of originals with this application in a big freezer ziplock bag with a paper attached typed “photographical evidence.” Should I label the back of each picture? I Have exactly 120 pictures…there in chronological order… I don’t know if I should write “1/ 120” ….99/120” on the back of each picture with a black sharpee? All of my proof is either copies of originals or email printouts… Basically each section is individually paper clipped and then I got one of those giant black clip things to clip the entire package

I need to send my fiancé all originals.. including my birth certificate/i134 …right? I am just afraid the Vietnamese government my lose/steal/misplace my docs. I really hope this first part goes smoothly at least.
