4 months since out interview date and no green card

hi all,

Since i realize everyone is on pins and needles waiting for updates on their case, I thought i would share our experience and maybe someone could shed some light.

I am a polish american born here, my husband is from poland and we were married on March 2, 2013. Were doing house renovations so didnt have time to submit paperwork until July 2013 - all was smooth with him getting his fingerprints and working visa shortly after we submitted. On Nov 18th 2013 we went for our interview in Hartford CT. The lady interviewing us was really sweet and stated she is new to the job (i thought o great) - interview was very very easy - shocked at how easy it was. she told us all looked good and that we would here something in 3-10 weeks. # months went by and we heard nothing. After calling the 1800 number (which are useless - people on their told us our case wasn't even opened yet and we had already had our interview) I made an info pass and my husband went back to the Hartford office - lady at the window was super unfriendly or helpful and said our case was "pending on back ground check". 2 weeks later i requested info from the website state our case was outside the normal processing time. A letter was sent saying that our case is on a "pending hold" due to background check. Now almost 4 months have gone by and nothing - i AM BEYOND frustrated. How can no one even be able to tell us a timeline - its like no one is held responsible for anything in the government.

Can someone help and let me know if they have had a simular experience and how long they waited? At this point its been almost 9 months since we submitted our paperwork - what should we do? thanks so much

i suggest you engage one of the constituent-outreach humans at a Congressman's office, try to find the one filling the role of 'Immigration Liason Staffer' and go forth.

'pending a background check' for that period of time seems weird, almost as if the casefile went into a dustbin and was forgotten, as background checks NORMALLY are fast.

ok so i just contacted my congressman and asked for the immigration specialist - she said that they would make an inquiry on our behalf after i fill out some paperwork - i hope this works. I will keep everyone posted.

search terms 'ILS Human' or 'Immigration Liason'
