Hi there all! My fiance and I have been going through this whole K1 visa process since September.

On March 3rd I had my interview and we were sent back to get another medical exam done because we had originally gotten it done at the wrong place, oops!

So the medical exam was done on march 5th and we were back in the Embassy on March 7th to hand in my results.

When we went back, we were told that the visa was approved and that we should expect to be contacted by the loomis branch we selected within 5-7 business days.

Today marks the 3rd business day since the interview and when I checked the CEAC website it says the visa is in Administrative Processing and was updated today, March 12th. Which also says it could take several weeks.

I have been doing some research and probably freaking myself out a bit, but how long does this Administrative Processing usually take? .. Considering we were told that it was approved and to expect it withint 5-7 business days. I may be working myself up, but we have been at this for 7 months now and I am just looking for some personal experiences.

I am coming from Canada and my fiance lives in the states.

Any help and advice would be super appreciated, as we are finding this whole process very emotionally straining!

Welcome to VJ!

The wait time for AP varies, so no one will really be able to tell you when your visa will actually issued. It can be days, weeks, months, etc. Most likely it will not take long though.

Thank you for the welcome! I know, I think I was just looking for a piece of mind. Currently my fiance and I are separated and I would really love to be with him sooner than later.

I was just curious as to hear some stories from other K1 visa applicants.

Is the Administrative Processing the time in which they are stamping your visa and putting together the concealed package? Or does it mean there is more to look into on the case?

Fingers are crossed it will come soon, since we really had no hiccups aside from getting the medical exam in.

I have a similar situation. At my interview on Feb 26, 2014, I was asked to submit extra documents.... an original birth certificate that I didn't have because I was adopted from Korea when I was a baby. Luckily, the Korean Embassy provided me with one. I sent the documents with my passport in on March 3rd and they got there March 4th. Since then I have been stuck on AP with some random updates but still on AP.

Can anyone help shed some light on my situation. I am getting concerned

Hey guys I can't really tell you how long you will be on AP but all I am told by the CSC every time I call is that AP means they are just looking into you care more carefully.. it could be anything a missing paper ,misspelled name, background. It could be anything... I had my interview the 19Dec2013.got there in time .. was really early and finally after hours of waiting got called up and they just handed me my documents back and said go home and wait for instructions ... anyways I got to my new home .I didn't know anyone.. I got my package from dhl 3 weeks later.. I got a letter saying I was on AP .. I said okay called my lawyer he checked out made some calls and said yeah your in AP and he explained what it was ..I said okay cool.. so finally Jan272014 got an update on my case.. said it could take several weeks and blah blah blah.. so I waited and waited loosing hope and finally yesterday March242014 got another update..it says the same thing... and now just waiting for an answer or another update... I really don't know if its a good thing to be in AP.. because if I was denied they could of denied me at the interview but I look at AP like something good because I haven't been denied yet.. it means there might be a chance I might get accepted and I go back home to my family.......so just think about it ...No such thing as luck... just god.. god is the one helping us out on this not luck...

Hey guys! Hope you have had some more good news?\

My case has been switched to READY (case is open) on March 19th and my case also switched from an Immigrant to Non-Immigrant VISA and the case creation date changed on that day as well. It said to check back in 2 business days... when I checked back, it was updated on the 24th with the same info.

Does anyone know whats next? The waiting game is disheartening and I am holding onto anything I can.
