Police certificate

Hi there,

I have a question which probably has been discussed in this forum for

many times... but I am still unsure - so I better ask.

The police certificate needed for the interview - can it be in German?

Does it have to be translated? Can I use the normal police certificate

that I get from the registration office? Or do I need any special confirmations?

I think all documents in a foreign language must be translated to English. I'm not too sure on the normal police certificate or special confirmations. I think they just want one showing you've never been arrested, or if you have for what reasons, etc. I would try asking on a regional forum on here to see if there are any people from Germany that might know.

I am from Denmark and went to the local policestation and they granted me a police certificate right away.

I could get it in all languages so didn't had to get it translated to English.

So try to call your policestation and see if they do the same as in Denmark

Application for a (private) certificate of good conduct or a certificate of good conduct (for official purposes)

The Application for a (private) certificate of good conduct is the one you want, the (official) certificate of good conduct is for official purposes only, (official) in this case meaning to be presented to a German authority.

P.S. Doing a google search under German embasy then go to Consular and Legal Services you will get all the information you will need to help you. The cost is 13 Euro

I am not so sure you are correct. I am copying from the Instructions for immigrant visa applicants document (barely legible says: Optional Form 169 (CPC) 4- illegible Department of State - that I received from our DCF consulate: Under 10. it reads: TRANSLATIONS: All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified English translations. Translations must be certified by a competent translator and sworn to before a Notary Public. (All documents in Japanese must be translated.)

My police certificate is in the local language and I have not translated it - they even wrote in my local language what is the name of the certificates I needed.

I have interview on Tuesday so I can let you know how it all went.

I should translate everything into English. And this almost broke me because of the costs on this.

Maybe it's different from country to country

If the interview is in Germany then all documents can be in either German or English.

Translations were done into English for the I-129F application.

If you have any documents that will be presented for the consulate (in Germany for instance) that are NOT in German or English, then they have to be translated.

I think it depends from country to country and you should contact the embassy/consulate to find out more.

In Brazil you don't need to translate any documents that are in Portuguese for the interview. I called the US consulate beforehand to make sure. I had a police certificate from the Netherlands, but since it was requested via the US consulate in Rio they probably had it translated in the US Embassy in The Hague.

Hello, I need a German Police cert. But I am overseas, Singapore, Can I use cash? 13 Euros Cash.
