Skype Chat Logs as Evidence

You don't need to submit every page of chat you ever done. It's not quantity but rather quality they are looking for in your evidence. A page or two of each conversation you had each day is plenty. Be sure to use chats where you talk about your future, your favorite things, your dreams and desires, you know, stuff couples talk about.

We use LINE chat for calls and texts. We submitted phone bills where I was using data and matched them with my phone call stamps in my LINE Chat window as evidence of calling. Texts are easily backed up in LINE to a .txt document easily translated into Word Pad.

Just thought I'd chime in here as we actually used our conversations via Messages on iOS. To do this we used an app called Chatology for OSX (Mac Computers) but this only works if at least one of you uses the Messages app on a Mac.

The Chatology app is great as it lets you go back to old conversations by date and search for key words... So if you remember talking about something that would be useful as evidence you can filter it and export it to a text file. It does cost, but its a very handy app if you can take advantage of it. (Worth to note there's also a trial)

As for "forging" the chats, we removed parts of the conversations that were not relevent, for instance if one of us asked something that we just remembered at the time while we were talking about our futures.

We had a similar worry about most of our communication being digital and the US government being a slight bit behind the times on that. So, in addition to the (postal) mail samplings and other things that they ask for (we had a couple of phone bills from URGENT TALK NOW situations), we sent a variety of our digital communications, which ties in to our "meet-cute" story (we were introduced on Twitter by a mutual 'real life' friend who thought we should talk shop).

We used Google Talk/Hangouts as our primary method of communication. Google actually will keep a log of this; we just printed out a representative sampling of the logs (which included time/date stamps). We sent "representative samples" of: Google Hangout logs; Twitter IMs; Twitter public conversations with multiple identifiable people; email; Facebook posts (including announcing our engagement and responses, making sure to the date/time posted was visible); and Offbeat Bride posts.

We had no problems, and they apparently didn't blink at it during his interview. That said, he is also from a low fraud country, so our experiences may not translate as well to a couple from a higher fraud country.

(Honestly, our biggest dilemma over it all was that Australia and the US print on different paper sizes. That irritated our academic OCD natures something fierce.)

Did you trim the paper to fit US Letter size? ...because I admit it, I did. It bothered me that I couldn't make neat little tabs and sections for the paperwork with the weird long Aus Letter size!

That size is called A4 which is 210 x 297 mm (8.267 x 11.692 inches). It is used almost everywhere in the world except the US and Canada instead of the American letter size 8.5 x 11.0 inches.

You can print out a log of calls made through Skype, by month.

You can select/copy/paste chat content into a text editor/word document.

I'm skeptical how important all of this is … none of it is verifiable and can easily be manipulated to demonstrate/hide whatever you want. Is there any additional value to submitting 100 pages of chat history over a statement that two people have chatted an hour a day every day for the past year?

Is this really true? Can you manipulate the skype chat history? If you can, will it be accepted as evidence?
