Hi all, just got visa for mom. Questions please -

1. Does she need round trip tickets to go through immigration custom?

2. On visa form we put visit for a month but now she may want to stay two months, would that cause any issues? The visa is good for 3 month.

3. If round trip ticket needed, can we get 1 way from her country and one way ticket from USA as in two "one ways" to show at the custom or port of entry?

1. YES

2. She needs to be truthful at the POE about her length of stay

3. Buy a round trip, it is often much cheaper

Hi I understand round trips cheaper but there's personal circumstances. So can she use two one ways instead of round trip ? Because we want to leave from other city.

You can buy round trip and keep the return flight "open-ended."

Aren't some plane tickets non-refundable? What if a person buys a ticket for a 6 week trip but they only give this person 10 days? Would that ever happen?

We are going to buy our tickets soon and just curious about this since my wife's visa just got approved.

I would be very surprised if that happens. Generally if they're suspicious of you they'll either deny you entry entirely, or give you exactly how much you asked for (i.e. until the day you say you're leaving). Usually on a B1/B2 visa they will give you a stamp for 6 months.

If your mother wants another visa someday, she should stay as long as she said, not longer. Otherwise, it may appear that she fabricated some story about how long she planned to stay, just to get the visa. Getting a second one will depend heavily on how she complies with whatever she told the VO. If she 'changes her mind', well, remember, the VOs can change theirs just as easily.
