I have few questions about the form DS 156. My interview for K1 is on the 2nd of Feb and I'm on the process of double checking my forms ( specifically the 3 forms required - DS 156, DS 156K, DS 157)

1. Are DS 156 and DS 156K the same? I noticed the only difference is the font size and the figure/number at the bottom left of the paper. Other than that, the questions are all the same, as well as the format and everything.

I used the electronic form for DS156. It was suggested since it automatically has a bar code when you print it out. The embassy would prefer to receive those , according to some here who are already done with these stuffs. http://www.theworldoffilipinas.com/forum/i...?showtopic=3683

Now, on question 18. Spouse's full name ( even if divorced or separated ) I answered N/A since I have never been married .

A. But question 19 ask for spouse's DOB. Of course I'll suppose to put N/A again but the only option is the (dd-mm-yyyy) or else I will leave it blank. I can not encode/write the word "N/A". And I have read on the forum that you are not suppose to leave anything blank. You should put NONE or N/A at least . The print out appears blank then.

B. What will I encode/type to those questions/lines that must be answered with NONE or N/A but can't type it?

3. DS 157 can be filled out manually, correct?

4. Can I photocopy the DS 156 forms, so long as I have my original signature on it everytime? Would it matter if I'll print out another DS 156 then I would think I will again get another set of bar codes. What is the best thing to do with this.

5. The 3 forms required are actually attached along with my Packet 4, I noticed it's kinda old ( referring to the beige and classy colored papers) although the expiry date is 7/31/2007 and 9/30/2007. Well, maybe it's just the paper =)

BUT.....DS 157 attached along with my packet 4 is DIFFERENT with DS 157 that can be downloaded on the USE site. Some questions are not the same and the format is just totally different....It's confusing me. If I would choose it, I'd use the forms sent to me along with the Packet 4, that way, I would think is "safe" and I can tell them I just followed your instructions.

DS 157 sent along with the packet vs DS 157 downloadable

has only 5 set of questions has around 18 questions

more specific and detailed

expires: 7/31/2007 9/30/2008 ( wonder if this would even matter too)

IT"S JUST DIFFERENT

What DS 157 form to use then?

Anyone encountering the same concern?

I WILL GLADLY APPRECIATE ANY RESPOND. THANKS AHEAD.

Reunited for good and it feels so good!

1. there is an example forms here on VJ.

2. DS 156 and DS 156K are not the same and both need too be filled out. 18 is none. 19 is blank.

3. I dont see why you cant fill it out be hand, the question is why would you not want to fill it out and print it?

4. 2 are needed, we printed 5 i think and signed all.

5. We used all the most current from online

I hope that is understandable. A lot of questions hehehe

Good luck!

You will always be well advised to use the online forms directly forms directly from the US Department of State

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html

DS-156 and DS-156K are two very different forms, and both are linked from the main page. Very good advice to print 4 or 5 copies of your completed DS-156. Actually make extra's of everything so you, your fiance and the consulate can all have originally signed copies of all forms asked for.

The Abu Dhabi Embassy sent us several forms, most of which were actually expired! You can never go wrong getting the most up to date forms from the above link. And typing out the forms, especially the bar coded DS-156 could save a lot of hassles down the road with things being far more legible.

DS-157 and in our case and perhaps yours, so is DS-230.

Good luck on your journey!
