This is really sad.

I am so lucky that no one in my family suffers from depression. It really has become an epidemic.

I do believe that in most cases however that suicide is the most selfish thing possible.

Seriously....talk to everyone you know that you think may be even 'a little depressed'....her parents didn't have a clue!

What a horrible horrible story. I read some of the newsgroup and the atmosphere there and the posts are just so horrible. All these people are spiraling off each other.

Sad news..she is so young.. You are right Lisa we should talk to someone who show some depression :( it reminds me of my brother..he commit suicide (hang himself on the tree)coz'he thinks no one care about him,he needs someone to talk to and that night he tried to get my attention to talk to him but Im too busy that time working.. :(

Just curious to know,is there some cure or medication for depression?

OMG.

I had a brother commit suicide in 2001, and no one had a clue. I guess that's not quite true. Turns out he had spoken a year or two earlier to a brother about it, but he just figured he was drunk, etc. It came out later.

My 16-year old nephew swallowed 20 Wellbutrin the night before last. He had to be taken by rescue squad to the emergency room, and spend the night. He will likely be transferred to a mental treatment center about an hour 1/2 from here where he spent a week near the end of summer...it hasn't come out that he was suicidal or anything, but he had to know 20 pills at once wouldn't do him any good...he's obviously very depressed.

I had no idea there were sites like this, and it's just SICK, SICK, SICK. I don't know HOW they get away with not getting shut down. It's absolutely ridiculous.

I'm sorry for your loss, Luz (F) and yes, there are several antidepressent medications and things like that. IMO, though, sometimes they just don't work. (and sometimes they do) Sometimes a combination of therapy, or even just institutionalization to prevent them from hurting themselves until they CAN get more help is best.

Depression will pick on anyone even if there is no family history of it. What's scary is sometimes there are no signs whatsoever. My uncle killed himself when I was young and it was a big shock to everyone that knew him. He had everything in life going for him, a new wife and a baby on the way. My dad thinks the stress of becoming a new dad was just too much for him. Thing was though, he had everything set up for his family so they didn't need to worry about anything so his suicide had been planned out for quite some time. No one knew.

I also know someone that has so many psych disorders I can't even remember them all. Once again.....no one knew. We knew this gal for 6 years then out of nowhere a suicide attempt. Just scary.

With my son having autism I make sure I'm always try to be in tune with how he's feeling, etc. Even though he is a very happy child it scares me because one of his medications that works very well also has been known to cause suicide/attempts.

it's also the highest form of self criticism.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

sister lisa, i knew of this site and it has been around for several years..sadly, what it does, is reinforce the person ideations and made their thoughts and views as being 'okay" and in fact, others join in to help and in some ways, encourage the action..a dangerous place for someone who thinking is off due to major depression
