Hi

My fiancee is from Vladivostok (Russian far east).

I just sent in my I-129F for her today. I want to ask my fiancee to start collecting documents. But I have some questions:

1. Police report:

How many years of her past should the police report reflect ?

Is there a central police station for whole Russia or there is one for each different region ?

If she obatined the police report now, the report won't cover that six month period before the interview. Will that be a problem ?

Does the police report need to be translated and notarized ?

2. Medical exam:

Does she have to travel to Moscow to do medical exam, wait for the result and then take the results to the interview ?

If so, there is nothing to be done before hand regarding medical exam, correct ?

3. What other document does she need to collect (i.e. birth certificate etc) while she is waiting ???

1. Police report from everyplace she was resident for more than 6 mos. since the age of 16

2. Medical in Moscow, nothing to do in advance

3. Get on the Moscow Embassy website, has just about everything you need to know

YMMV

The police report is for the city she lives in or as FWA pointed out everywhere she has lived since age 16. There are no National police reports.

As far as the police report being notarized, no. As far as translated I have heard both ways and when someone called the Moscow embassy they said yes.

There is a list of approved medical centers on the Moscow website. I never paid much attention because we are using Moscow but I thought there was a center in Vladivivstok. Check the list and you will know for sure.

If you were not aware of it there is a section for those with a fiancee from Russia in the regional section towards the bottom of the page listing forums. If you haven't visited it you may want to. Most everyone there has had experince with the Moscow embassy. Good luck.

I can't say how it is in Russia but in Brazil there are only 3 approved "civil surgeons" in Rio de Janeiro. My fiance does not live there so he will be going to a medical exam 1-2 days before the interview.

As far as the blood tests/x-ray he was able to do them at a laboratory/hospital in his city and will bring those results with him to the medical right before his interview.

We had to ask the doctor first if he'd accept lab results from another doctor because some do not, but 2 out of the 3 doctors in Rio accepts them.

Hope this helps.
