Some folks don't know what a monopoly is.

mo·nop·o·ly
məˈnäpəlē/Submit
noun
1.
the exclusive possession or control of the supply or trade in a commodity or service.
"his likely motive was to protect his regional monopoly on furs"
2.
trademark
a board game in which players engage in simulated property and financial dealings using imitation money. It was invented in the US and the name was coined by Charles Darrow c. 1935.

Perhaps the word they are looking for is "corporation" .

We now live in a global market, the US has to take a few steps back in some areas to compete globally. Stores like Walmart are the present and the future and they are not nearly as bad as some would lead us to believe. What's the alternative? Do we close our borders to all international trade and become isolated?

Penn & Teller have a good spin on Walmart.

This is the first part of 4.

Some folks don't understand the very specific, very real impacts of these companies activities as they pertains to particular industries.

Some people would rather be condescending tosspieces.

Just because you don't know something, it doesn't mean that it should be dismissed out of hand with silly pictures and meaningless labels.

It's amazing to me how ignorance and stupidity so often go hand in hand.

Things change. The mass production and distribution of the printed word has given away to electronic media. Tree huggers everywhere should applaud this development. With book publishers giving incentives to instructors to select a particular set a textbooks, then insist the campus bookstores exchange the more than adequate current editions for the latest editions (that with word by word comparisons, show little, if any distinct differences), I am sure the printed word will survive a little longer. Amazing to me, is the selective outrage, no doubt encouraged by those very instructors and institutions.

It is not. It has nothing to do with race, it's just an illusion perceived importance.

Walmart is as American as it gets, they sell guns too.

There's a brand new Super Walmart being built right around the corner from me on Rte.1 in Saugus, I can't wait til it opens.

You must have been absent the day that someone used the word uppity and got jumped on for being racist. It was good times.

I did miss that. Did moderation come to the decision that uppity was racist or was it one of the members of the peanut gallery?

Walmiart has its place in the retail industry. Last time I heard it was #1. It's an American company founded by a real American who liked guns and liked to hunt. It was started to help people get goods for a fair price. It has grown into the largest retailer on the planet, and to millions of people it helps them provide things their family needs. Many in American can't afford to shop at Neiman Marcus.
