I hate walmart, it's a grotty store that sells inferior products. If your definition of success is descending to the lowest common denominator in just about everything, then you will admire wamart. Personally, I would be perfectly happy if the map reversed the other way and not one walmart existed.

That's the beauty of America. You can go next door and shop wherever you like. Unless of course the government tells you that you cannot.

Wal-Mart Is Good For You

It may surprise–or even infuriate–critics, but a new study finds Wal-Mart benefits rather than harms the American economy.

That’s the conclusion of a report just released by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, which studied the “Wal-Mart effect” for 89 counties in its region over the past two decades. The study shows that between 1985 and 2003, personal income, overall employment and retail employment grew faster in counties with a Wal-Mart than in those without one.

Forbes is obviously in the tank for the Koch Bros.

And yet, when Walmart makes a pledge to spend $250bn on American-made goods over the next 10 years, the person who voiced the ad, Mike Rowe, of Dirty Jobs fame, received hate mail and death threats.

How strange.

What's strange is that anyone would buy their idiotic advertising. Walmart may not be the sole store responsible for outsourcing jobs to china (via buying tons of cheap ####### from chinese slaveshops) but it made one hell of a contribution. I blame the idiots that shop at walmart too of course, buy a nice shiny new thing that lasts five minutes rather than keep using a well made old thing that lasts for years. Brilliant
