If Walmart was delivering the same goods and services to the same customer base, you would be able to prove, or disprove that. However, since Walmart delivers more goods and more services to an increasing customer base, your argument lacks foundation.

Walmart can't even keep their shelves stocked due to understaffing so I don't see them delivering more services or goods.

You asked for proof and the facts were posted. Perhaps we could focus on discussing the validity of those facts that back up what Brown Dwarf stated?

Those are not facts. They are political rhetoric filled with ideology without merit or basis in business. Face it. Socialism doesn't work.

Is there anyone up for the intellectual challenge of actually discussing the argument at hand besides Brown Dwarf and I?

You're a socialist. You already lost the battle. You feel like you win by passing out leaflets filled with propaganda, and playing Robin Hood. It ain't working.

Of course, the lack of stock on the shelves would not mean that goods are being sold faster than they can be restocked, because of high demand, would it?

No, it means things just pile in the back.

I'm not a socialist. I do believe small businesses are getting crushed by larger ones….and the government is actually helping the larger ones do it.

Okay, you say you're not a socialist. You like small business. Nothing wrong with that. When it comes to a free market, just who out there is going to keep the more successful guy from gobbling up the other guy? Would that be a union thug, or maybe government?

And yet, when Walmart makes a pledge to spend $250bn on American-made goods over the next 10 years, the person who voiced the ad, Mike Rowe, of Dirty Jobs fame, received hate mail and death threats.

How strange.

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

if the bigger guy starts to go against free market principles and goes too far then its an antitrust situation. Beyond that, the playing field needs to be level in terms of taxes. Small businesses do not get the same breaks that larger ones do.

Free market principles? In this life there are always new ideas and our youth is filled with energy. They want to achieve and see if the public is interested in their new wheel. The old wheel wasn't fully round. It was bumpy and caused an uneasy ride. It was an easy sell. Joe wants to sell that new wheel. He prices it at 29.95. He sells lots of them. Then comes Mike. He decides he can still make a good profit by selling the same wheel for 25.95.

Jack gets word of this new business and he's got lots of money and resources. He learns that Joe and Mike cannot keep up with demand and that their demographic cannot afford the 25.95. However, there are many who are willing to pay 19.95 for the wheel. Joe and Mike cannot make a profit selling the wheel at this price. But, Jack can because he worked a new deal with the seller that is beneficial to the buyer, the seller and Jack. It ain't so good for Joe and Mike though.

Time for Joe and Mike to find another gig, lick their wounds and move on. But hey. If there is a socialist savior, he may be able to hurt Jack and make Jack go away.

Walmart doesn't kill jobs...it just redistributes them & effectively improves the broader local economy as a result.

Now, who wouldn't love that?

Wal-Mart Is Good For You

It may surprise–or even infuriate–critics, but a new study finds Wal-Mart benefits rather than harms the American economy.

That’s the conclusion of a report just released by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, which studied the “Wal-Mart effect” for 89 counties in its region over the past two decades. The study shows that between 1985 and 2003, personal income, overall employment and retail employment grew faster in counties with a Wal-Mart than in those without one.

I hate walmart, it's a grotty store that sells inferior products. If your definition of success is descending to the lowest common denominator in just about everything, then you will admire wamart. Personally, I would be perfectly happy if the map reversed the other way and not one walmart existed.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .
