So looking over my letter. This is what Im thinking I need my husband to bring to his interview. I have so many questions if anyone could help with even just one or two I'd be grateful or direct me to posts to help.

Document Name Document Status

CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS C- Needs to bring

1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1 R - (Submitted it online so dont need to bring?)

1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 2 R - (Submitted it online so dont need to bring?)

2 - PASSPORT Y - (I know it says NVC sent this but Im pretty sure it was just a copy of his bio page. So have him bring his passport?)

3 - BIRTH CERTIFICATE O- (Does he need to bring his original?)

4 - ADOPTION F- (Doesnt apply to us)

5 - MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE O- (The NVC has the original and certified copies should I make him bring another certified copy?)

6 - MARRIAGE TERMINATION F- (Doesnt apply to us)

7 - COURT RECORDS F- (Doesnt apply to us)

F - FINANCIAL EVIDENCE Y- (Submitted everything to NVC. Should he bring copies of the I-864?)

9 - MILITARY RECORDS F- (Doesnt apply to us)

10 - CANADA POLICE CERTIFICATE Y- (Submitted original so I dont think he needs to bring this?)

FEE PAYMENT $- (Paid our fees already)

PHOTOGRAPH Y- (Submitted photos already but maybe should have him bring two more?)

F - PETITIONER MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE F- (Doesnt apply to us)

F - PETITIONER BIRTH CERTIFICATE F- (Doesnt apply to us)

ELIGIBILITY DOCUMENT F- (Doesnt apply to us)

So from all that Im gathering he needs to bring the following:

His medical

His passport

His birth certificate

His interview letter

Two passport type photos

A certified copy of our marriage certificate

Would this cover all our bases? I feel like building him up a whole new packet just in case. Stress lol.

Now the actual embassy website lists the following:

  • Valid Passport and photocopy of the biographic page. (I figure he should bring his passport. NVC has a copy of his biographical page)
  • Ticket with your number (will be given at the Consulate). (Done there so not worried about this)
  • Medical Examination in a sealed envelope (X-ray is not required, unless there is TB). (Working on getting this done this month)
  • 2 color passport-size pictures (5 cm X 5 cm or 2 inch X 2 inch). (This definitely answered some questions above I think)
  • Form DS-230 (175KB PDF), parts I and II, or Confirmation Page of the electronic form DS-260. (Wouldnt this be in the packet NVC sent them?)
  • Birth Certificate, English translation and a photocopy. (?)
  • Marriage Certificate, English translation and a photocopy. (They have my original and certified copies should I have him bring another?)
  • Divorce Certificate, English translation and a photocopy. (Doesnt apply to us)
  • Custody documents, English translation and photocopy. (Doesnt apply to us)
  • Police Certificates from Canada and other countries of previous residence. (Doesnt the one in the NVC packet count?)
  • Court / Criminal records and photocopy.(Doesnt apply to us)
  • Military records and photocopy.(Doesnt apply to us)
  • Evidence of Support (I-864, I-864A, I-864EZ, I-864W) and photocopy of IRS transcript or photocopy of the most recent Federal income tax return. (Would the ones NVC sent them count?)
  • Recent Letter from the U.S. employer (for employment cases).(Doesnt apply to us)
  • Copy of the U.S. petitioner status in the USA.( What is this?)
  • Copies of documents proving petitioner's U.S. domicile. (What is this?)

Ive also seen mention of Loomis and Packet 3 any idea of what these are?

Sorry for the barrage post. I just figure we all have to go through it so I might as well put it out there. The letters are confusing I'll give them that haha! I know we all want to be super ready. Just trying to get a jumpstart on it. Maybe my confusion will fill in some blanks for someone else xD

I believe a good rule of thumb is to bring everything (if possible).

All the documents that we submitted to NVC, electronically or otherwise, will be transferred to the Consulate, however, the beneficiary is still required to bring the 'originals' or 'certified copies' to the interview. Never assume anything, to be on the safe side.

  • Valid Passport and photocopy of the biographic page. (I figure he should bring his passport. NVC has a copy of his biographical page) (this is a no-brainer, how else would they attach the visa on his passport rolleyes.gif )
  • Ticket with your number (will be given at the Consulate). (Done there so not worried about this) (correct)
  • Medical Examination in a sealed envelope (X-ray is not required, unless there is TB). (Working on getting this done this month) (very important item to bring to the interview)
  • 2 color passport-size pictures (5 cm X 5 cm or 2 inch X 2 inch). (This definitely answered some questions above I think) (must bring to interview even though already emailed to NVC in the DS-260 package)
  • Form DS-230 (175KB PDF), parts I and II, or Confirmation Page of the electronic form DS-260. (Wouldnt this be in the packet NVC sent them?) (print the confirmation page of the DS-260 and bring it - they did not ask to see mine but bring it - it's just 1 page)
  • Birth Certificate, English translation and a photocopy. (?) (bring his original long-form birth certificate - if it's in French, translate it to English to be sure)
  • Marriage Certificate, English translation and a photocopy. (They have my original and certified copies should I have him bring another?) (again, do not assume that they have anything - bring the original marriage certificate - by the way, did you do EP at NVC?)
  • Divorce Certificate, English translation and a photocopy. (Doesnt apply to us)
  • Custody documents, English translation and photocopy. (Doesnt apply to us)
  • Police Certificates from Canada and other countries of previous residence. (Doesnt the one in the NVC packet count?) (he needs to bring all the original police certificates - very important)
(Would the ones NVC sent them count?) (they will ask to see the original especially if they have questions about income requirements - so bring the entire AOS package exactly as you submitted to NVC)
  • Recent Letter from the U.S. employer (for employment cases).(Doesnt apply to us)
  • Copy of the U.S. petitioner status in the USA.( What is this?) (I believe that this item and the one about domicile are only applicable if you, the US petitioner, is currently living in a foreign country. If you are living in the US, then you do not have to worry about it - bring a photocopy of your US passport biographic page if you want to be totally on the safe side - also if you are naturalized USC, then bringing a copy of your naturalization certificate might be a good idea)
  • Copies of documents proving petitioner's U.S. domicile. (What is this?) (see above)

Packet 3 is only for K-1 visa pursuant, not IR-1/CR-1.

Loomis, on the other hand, is a very important step in the process and one that you must have taken prior to the interview. It is the courier service that Consulate uses to mail the passport, with visa attached, back to the beneficiary after getting approved at the interview.

This is the website - https://usvisa-info.com/en-ca/selfservice/us_courier_information

Read the information (those that pertains to immigrant visa applicants).

There is a step-by-step on how to register (dummy-proof) for the service and it is free.

Also checked out Saylin's profile and her info links on the Montreal Consulate and what to expect at the interview - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/user/90397-saylin/

Hopefully some of your concerns and confusions are alleviated by my post.

Relax and don't overthink things - the end to a long journey is in sight. good.gif

You are awesome! This helped so much! Thank you c: They have my original marriage certificate xD So I guess Ill have him bring a certified copy. Im worried because the 864 papers I sent in the originals so I am not sure how I would go about getting copies. ill have to look into that further. Again THANK YOU SO MUCH. Weve been jumping through hoops for so long now I just want to get this right and over with,
