Hello,

Apologies if you have heard this before, but can anyone who is also a beneficiary of an I-130 tell me on average how long it takes for it to be completed? I mean to the point at which I am able to travel to the US. I'm a UK citizen, my husband is a US citizen, USCIS received our I-130 application on 9th October 2013 although we sent it off at the beginning of September 2013, anyway...

I feel like I'm just left in limbo, it's hard to plan anything when you don't know what's happening. Yes I am aware of the precarious processing times.

Could anyone shed some light?

Thank you.

Sorry to be entirely predictable here, but there really is no definitive answer to your question. Some people can have the visa in hand after a few months. Others over a year. Most folks somewhere in between.

On the basis that your application is straightforward (i.e. devoid of any time consuming legal issues) then anywhere between 4-to-10 months. Really can't give you anything more concise than that. Best thing for you to do is peruse the various timelines. In my personal case, the I-129 was sent off in January and I had the visa in hand towards the end of October - so around 9 months. Some folks who filed around the same time as me were done in half that time (back in '08 when I filed, Vermont were ploughing through cases at break-neck speed while California was more pedestrian - I was with California.)

it depends on the type of application first, as a wife usually between 6-12 months and the issue of time usually is affected by things the USCIS ask for, so if they ask for evidence for example that delays time, if the visa center asks for evidence and that is due to some doubt they feel, but since you are married and have no issues for such suspension to rise you should be fine.

I advice you to look through topics of related members living and applying in the UK.

here is a link that may help you:

and by the way, did you get the NOA1 and were you assigned a processing center or not yet?

Good luck

You are left in limbo I feel the same! Have you checked out the monthly thread's in the CR1 section? You can get an idea for what dates USCIS are currently working on with the data there. So much of it is luck though depending on what processing centre you get sent to.

We filed our I-130 on June 6 and are currently at the NVC and hoping for a June interview if that gives you a rough idea.

About 12-18 months if all the rabblerousings in the I-130 forum are to be believed.

November 14th, 2013: She's here!

December 12th, 2013: Picked up marriage license.

December 14th, 2013: Wedding
