Hey everyone. It seems the more I think I know...the more confused I am!!!

Can anyone tell me about this: I think I have to get a joint sponsor b/c I just graduated college 2 years ago and my sister and brother-in-law volunteered...the problem is that I read just now that only ONE person can do it and not a couple..which is confusing for me because they file a tax return together and how is that separated?? anyway- does anyone know how much she would needed to have made to be my joint sponsor?

and someone mentioned that I dont need 3 years of income proof..just current proof..is that true?? I was sure I read 3 years somewhere.....

Thanks for any help!!!

You do not need your tax returns until the interview so start gathering your paperwork to file for your fiance visa.

Your sister can't be faulted for filing jointly. You will need her tax history (three years back) and she will fill out required forms individually and have them notarized stating that she is your sponsor. She can also type a statement in regards to her tax returns, saying that even though she is married filing jointly, as an individual she has agreed to be your co-sponsor.

In regards to income, aside from her husband who else is in her household as a dependent or her most recent tax return? You need to check the guidelines (125% above poverty line, based on number of persons supported) and add your fiance in as one of her dependents. From this you will get the minimum amount she must make to be a co-sponsor.

Good luck.
