I have very important question. I noticed that there are two types of NOA2. One indicating the petition is forwarded to NVC and show you how to contact them and obtain your case number, and the other one states that the petition is being forwarded to the mentioned consulate and say that we have to contact the consulate and follow up with visa issuance. Would you please tell me what is the difference. Anyone had either of these NOA2??

Shall I call NVC and follow up for case status, or wait for the consulate to contact me???

Below is what our NOA2 contain:

The above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate. Please contact the consulate with any questions about visa issuance, or if you would like them to forward the petition to a different consulate. The petitioner can also file for I-824, application for action on an approved application or petition, with this office to request that we notify another consulate of the petition of approval for visa processing purposes. THIS FORM IS NOT A VISA AND MAY NOT BE USED IN PLACE OF A VISA.

When the person this petition is for enters the U.S. based on this visa, he or she will be admitted for ninety (90) days in order to marry the petitioner, and based on that marriage file for adjustment to permanent resident status on form I-485. The form to apply for adjustment of status can be obtained at any local USCIS office or USCIS form center. Please attach a copy of this notice to the adjustment application when you file it.

If the petitioner and the fiance(e) do not marry within these 90 days, status will expire, and he or she will be in violation of the Immigration and Nationality act if he or she does not depart. An extension can not be granted. It is requested that the petitioner informs his or her local USCIS office if he or she determines that the marriage will not take place within the 90 day period. Please attach a copy of this notice to any correspondence about this case.

I received the same NOA2 and the lower level reps were no help. Because my NOA2 exceeded 8 weeks some NVC & USCIS reps were saying that it was mailed to the consulate bypassing the NVC. They really had me nervous & I even emailed the consulate to confirm this didn't happen. After speaking to both a tier 2 rep & a DOS rep (on the last day they were taking calls for K1s) I was told that this is just how some are worded & put in a service request to receive a new one, which came back saying the same thing. I was getting so much conflicting information from the lower level reps.

I would recommend calling a tier 2 service rep at the USCIS if you have any additional concerns. But what I was told is that the petition can't go to the consulate without being assigned a case number by the NVC.

My case has just been received at the NVC, but they entered my wrong DOB so I'm locked out of my case until they open up my email with a scanned passport.
