Yes you can put the carry case on your lap during the flight, but during take off and landings it has to be under the seat.

Grab some Benadryl it will help settle the dog down and help it sleep during the long flight.

omg for real?!!! I was just kidding about the cough syrup hahahaha! I didn't know you can give a dog benadryl. thank you! I'm so tempted to do that so he won't pester the other passengers.

thank you everyone for your replies. this forum rocks!

Not much choice if you want to bring the dog. I wouldn't feed your dog the day before, and the day of travel. You are going to want to hydrate her, and give her water during the trip. I'm not sure if they have puppy pads in the Philippines, but if you take the dog to the cr, you could put down a puppy pad to absorb the urine. She's going to have to go at least a few times over those 19 hours.

thanks for the tips! I'll look for puppy pads. I hope I can find DryFur here and collapsible water bowl.

I give our dog a (half) "benny" from time to time as she has allergies, and for sure when we fly to the Philippines she will get a half.

Hi,

For airline approved pet carriers (in cabin) Check bow and wow in Greenbelt or in Shangrila. Unfortunately they dont sell sherpa or sleepypod here but the have petmate which is also airline approved. You may want to check their sizes too. We are actually bringing our 2 cats to Houston but we want them in cabin.

I hope everything goes well with you and your dog's flight.

Hi Ken&Lei! I called pet express but they don't sell soft kennels. I emailed the travel club and asked if they sell pet carriers, they said TUMI has a pet carrier and it costs 13,026 pesos which is ridiculous. So I ordered the Sherpa 11721 Delta Deluxe Pet Carrier from Amazon instead. glad that they ship to the Philippines. Total cost is $90 (includes shipping plus taxes). Not too bad. I don't want to take a chance so I decided to buy that specific carrier.

I hope all goes well with you and your cats too! :)

Is it possible to bring a pet t the USA?

it is possible:)

I brought my cat in 2014. There are some  paperwork must be done - check with your vet, they should direct you where to begin ;) It depends on a lot of things -  what country you are leaving for, if your pet already has a passport , what vaccinations have been done and what will have to be done before flight... and etc .

Then 3-5 days before your actual flight you will have to go to a Gov.Vet clinic to get some paperwork done with them. After that your pet is good to go. Almost :) The last thing to do - you have to show up at the airport much earlier , to file ANOTHER paperwork with airport vet.. They, technically, the last ones who give your pet a "permission" to travel.  Yes, sounds like a lot, but it's doable. Just one thing at the time :)

Also, you will have to check with airline  if there is a place for your pet. Prices also can very - I flew with Delta and at that time it didn't cost a lot.  My friend tried to bring her dog with Delta last year and it seemed like to buy a ticket in a business class.. So, they ended up with Lufthansa. So, you should check all of this BEFORE booking a ticket.. well, tickets :) - for you and your pet.

Also, I was upset  when I learnt my cat couldn't be with me, in the passenger's area.. I believe only one pet ) a little one) is allowed to be in that area during flight. So she had to travel as a 'luggage'...

But after I landed in the US, i realized it was the best option for us - 3 flights, with 2 layovers would have been more stressful  if I had her next to me all way here. First - when pets travel as "luggage", it's required to get them  a bigger kennel (each airline has its own requirements for that, you should check on that as well, booking tickets).  So pets could stand up, lay down, stretch and so on.. If with you - it's a little tiny bitty bag or something you should keep under your sit... I can not imagine my cat doing that for 20 hours or so...

But this was me :) A choice is still yours. Just keep in mind - if you want your pet next to you, you should notify an air company as early as possible, to book a "place" for your pet.

Good luck!!!
