Received AOS B

I received 2 emails from NVC. One contained a letter addressed to me (as a PDF file) that said my next step is to pay the AOS processing fee; said my wife should submit DS-261; provided my NVC Case Number and Invoice ID Number; and instructions on paying the AOS fee. The other email contained a letter addressed to my wife (again as a PDF File) and said her immigrant visa petition is ready for further processing; provided her NVC Case Number, Invoice ID Number, and Beneficiary ID Number; provided instruction on submitting DS-261;

I accidentally submitted the above post before I was finished. It should have ended with "and provided instructions on submitting DS-261."

So, we're getting closer!!!!

Yup! Thats where it starts. You can do the 261 - assignment of agent form for her online. That is her giving them the authority to communicate with you on her behalf. You pay the AOS fee, when the payment is processed within 5 days, they will send you emails with more instructions.

If I do the DS-261 for my spouse, do I select "I am the petitioner" or "I am the primary applicant" from the first drop down menue?

You are the petitioner. One of the letters that came I believe makes a statement that your spouse previously known as the beneficiary is now referenced as the applicant.

So the NVC actually sends an email when the case number is assigned, thought we could only get it by calling or waiting for snail mail. Do they send it on the day it is assigned though?

Yes, they email it. I'd been calling evey week to check the status and each time I asked if a case number had been assigned. They would tell me that a case number had not been assigned and to call back in 10 days. I was planning on calling again tomorrow; however, I received the emails yesterday (with the case number and other info.). NVC received my case on 01/26/2014 and I received the emails yesterday.

Rec'd ours on Feb 11th. So we probably have another week to wait.
