Hi Everyone,

I want to help those who are getting their medical exam done soon and are of course going to transition from a k1 visa to a permanent residence.

My husband had his medical done in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The doctor charged him $260 for 2 vaccines that he absolutely didn't need. And the ones he needed she didn't give to him.

I don't want you to go through the same mess, so here are the vaccines you ought to have in order to do your AOS (Adjustment of status) when you arrive in the US

Make sure have a signed copy of the DS-3025 sheet (part of the medical exam form)

You have to have :

1. Shots marked with a date (at least one of a series)

MMR (two are required but if you have "insufficient time interval" checked, then you get a waiver)
Td or Tdap or DT or DTP or DtaP (One no longer than 10 years ago, ie.have a booster)
Varicella or if you have had chickenpox before the doctor needs to write VH (Varicella History) so you don't have to take it
Influenza (during flu season which is October 1st to March 31)

2. Everything else marked not age appropriate, insufficient time interval, not flu season...things that allow a waiver. Or if you have taken other just make sure you write the date, but they are not required for AOS

It will save you time and money, because if the DS-3025 is not filled properly you have to go to a civil surgeon in the US and have them certify another vaccination sheet (I-693) which could cost you a lot.

Hope it helps, and ps you don't need another medical exam once you arrive to the US if your medical was done within a year from the date you apply for your AOS

Good Luck guys

Gedaa

I just gave my wife a list of vaccines required she went to her private doctor and got the shots she needed.. She gave those papers to the civil surgeon and he signed off on the shots required. Wasn't a bad process.. She got the shots for free through her insurance she had in her country.

Heres a link to the list of vaccines. Some wouldn't be required based on age and what not.

The doctors who work with the embassies for these visa medicals are a bunch of crooks. They take advantage of immigrants who may not know the regulations or too afraid to question them. My wife (then fiancee) went to get her medical for the K-1. I gave her the list of vaccines that she needed to have and she got them all or signed off as not for her age from her public clinic.

At the exam, he still gave her 2 vaccines (flu and HPV). She was 28, but I think HPV was only given up to age 26 if I remember correctly. And the flu shot was given to her (mid-April). I think he charged her $25/shot.
