I-751 and children traveling overseas, what to expect

Hello all!

Here I am again, may be guys u can guide me a little bit here.

I will be filling our (mine and 3 children) I-751 on May 8th as the expiration in our GC is 08/06/14.

I've been checking on the times for most of you and i see the NOA1 takes in most cases like a week, and the biometrics is for the most part a month after that.

So here is the thing, my kids have to travel overseas somewhere by mid June coming back ending of August.

Should they be ok with the processing times? Is common for it to take much more than the times I've been checking? What comes after the biometrics? Did someone have an interview?

I am just afraid to let them travel, and then may be need them to be here for an interview or something.

Any advice?

While all the kids are listed on that I-751, the USCIS for us treated, well only one separately. At the same time, my stepdaughter got mail from the USCIS, not with a green card in it, but with a one year extension notice. When traveling, need this one year extension notice along with your expired green card and valid foreign passprt. May also want to check to see if your kids need more than your permission to leave your home country.

They did postpone her biometrics a week later than her mom's. Since its a 450 mile drive, I took her along. But they would take her for those extra few seconds. But made us go to the rear of the line. That extra half an hour was far better than another 450 mile trip. Each should have their own biometrics appointment letter. Field office is helpless without that.

Rare to have an interview with the I-751.Equally rare to get your green cards within that one year time frame for the extension. We had to make yet another trip for I-551 stamps in their foreign passport books.
