Hi Everyone

I am new to this forum. Please help me with this. In sep 2006, my waiver got approved and at the embassy The CO told me that they need new medical and police report of me and he aslo told me that to bring in both after 3 months . Also, i was told that they have to do security clearance . I want to know how long the security clearance take with people who have common name start with(M). Did anybody got cleared with common first name(M) like mine recently from Islamabad. I heard that people with common name take longer than who donot have common name. It has been already more than 2 months since security clearance. i am taking my new medical and police report to the Embassy after 3 weeks. i have not seen my wife and kids for a long time. i have been seprated from them for more than 4 years already. any Help.

Hi Guys, i am still waiting for your input. hello Michigan, babbybuny, mary and all the nice people on this forum. please come forward

my husband has a very common name. javed

it took us 1 1/2 years to finally clear. the average seems to be 6-9 months. I hope with the recent clearences of members on VJ we can expect this time to be much shorter. in the past the average wait time was 3 months I hope we can go back to those days.

Thanks babybunny . Back in octobor after my waiver got approved i went to the embassy the CO said to me" CONGRATULATION AND WELCOME TO USA" then he said they have to do the clearance first. i thought everything is o.k when he said" WELCOME TO USA" Did anybody got this kind of greeting" welcome to usa" I am wondering howcome he said that if he was not giving me the visa at that time.

My husband got that same idiotic greeting from his interviewer as well. They even gave him a video about America or something. That was on 9/1. We finally got the visa almost 5 months later.

It is more than 3 months now since i am in security clearance . we called the DOS they say they donot know how long it will take for the security clearance. How many checks they perfomed. Every time they tell different stories.

I am going for IR1 does IR1 compare to AOS or K-3 take longer when it come to security clearance? ot it is the same in timewise?

Yeah, you will keep hearing this. Out of the blue one day they will say that the clearance has been completed and that the info will be fwd to the embassy. Then it shouldn't be long after that when you will hear something from the embassy. I am not sure if the IR1 security clearance takes longer than the K3. It seems like they would be the same. Even for the K-3 it took us a full 5 months.

the good news is your case has got to be going smoothly..

so just relax - your clearance should hopefully be done soon. they have to do them on everyone.. but, you will be clear before you know it.. mean while keep really busy and you will be reunited soon..:)
