I'm also free to wonder just what in the hell you're doing here in the first place, when you harbor such hatred toward it.

The only thing that this country is good for, making money. Rest assured that whenever I find a better opportunity over seas I'll drop it like the bad habit it is.

It was a pointless exercise. The WMD claim was a lie. Iraq posed no significant threat to the USA or its neighbours.

Pointless exercise? Agreed

WMDs? Only if you discount the open secret that the majority went over the Syrian border.

As you sit yourself in front of your Internet communications device slamming America, and those who gave their lives to make it a free nation, and the greatest on earth, you should remember one thing. This country you are free to stay, and where you are free to go. You are free to express your objections, and you are free to walk away. Within the borders of this nation, you have the strength of the US Constitution to stand behind you. I'm also free to wonder just what in the hell you're doing here in the first place, when you harbor such hatred toward it.

More often than not armchair patriots are fascists.

This from the same CIA that failed to predict the fall of the Soviet Union, despite doing nothing but obsessing over it (and using it as an excuse to crush democracy and butcher millions in Japan, Chile, Iran, Guatemala, El Salvador, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and myriad other countries).

"A commonly belief is that the United States Intelligence Community (IC)

failed to anticipate the collapse of the Soviet Union. Indeed, many of the
U.S. officials who received intelligence about the Soviet Union, its decline
in the late 1970s and 1980s, and its final crises in the 1989–1991 period,
believe to this day that they were not warned—that they were, in effect,
‘‘blindsided.’ "
The fact that the CIA thought there were WMD's there just serves as more proof they never had them in the worst place. When it comes to gathering actual intelligence on America's enemies the CIA ought to be with Bush himself under a Google search for "miserable failure."

If it's anything like the intelligence that was bandied about in the UK, the fault was less with the intelligence agencies than with the government's predetermined agenda for war.

Here in the US, the head of the CIA told Bush that WMD's in Iraq were a "slam dunk." The CIA as usual gave the intelligence that POTUS and the military-industrial complex wanted to hear.

It's perfectly possible to love one's country and disagree with its foreign (and domestic, for that matter) policy. It's part of being a rational, intelligent citizen. To posit that because a citizen disagrees somehow makes them unworthy of living here seems positively un-American in philosophy to me.

So should generalising patriots as fascists.

Totally. It's a tired old mantra on here. Sick of it really - the only salute people like that deserve is the one finger variety
