IR1 POE procedures at abu dhabi airport

I read that Abu Dhabi airport now does pre-immigration clearance for flights departing to the US. Im considering flying Etihad to NYC with my IR1 visa. Would this mean that i handover the brown envelope to the US border control guys in Abu Dhabi? If anyone has experience with pre-clearance, please share your experience.

I have traveled through emirates on JAN 24th 2014

My visa type IR1 .

I handed over the yellow color envelope at DALLAS IMMIGRATION.

POE - 26th JAN 2014(DFW)

Applied for SSN on 14 th FEB and recieved on 27th FEB 2014

27th FEB ELIS status optimised

4th MARCH production of new card began

7th MARCH card produced and mailed through usps priority mail

Jerrybryant ,u may be correct,the rules might have changed and I tried googling I guess you are right.

POE - 26th JAN 2014(DFW)

Applied for SSN on 14 th FEB and recieved on 27th FEB 2014

27th FEB ELIS status optimised

4th MARCH production of new card began

7th MARCH card produced and mailed through usps priority mail

I handed over the yellow color envelope at DALLAS IMMIGRATION.

I don't think Emirates or Dubai Airport has per-clearance yet. It would apply only to Etihad flights departing to US from Abu Dhabi.

Yes, you do go through mandatory pre-clearance at Abu Dhabi International Airport, so if you're flying Etihad, that's where your wife would clear her immigration. Keeping that in mind, you need to book her connection in such a way that she has at least four hours to spare, considering the huge number of people flying into the US from there everyday and having to go through the mandatory pre-clearance.
