Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knew the answer to this question, as I've searched all over the website to find an answer but no where seems to have talked about it specifically and I've been wondering...

Is there a point after you take your biometrics when you're "in the clear" for RFEs? Like, if you get your EAD or AP approved, are you likely going to get an RFE down the road for your I-485 or if you did have an RFE for your I-485, would you have got it some time shortly after having your biometrics done? or can you get it months down the road? I know an RFE for "initial evidence" can re-start the clock and an RFE for "additional evidence" stops the clock, but I haven't seen many timelines where people got RFEs AFTER their EAD/AP petitions were approved, which seem to be around 60ish days.

I am just curious to if there is a certain point where if you don't receive an RFE, you probably won't, kind of thing. Like a sigh of relief.

Thanks!

You can get an RFE any time before your petition is approved. In some cases they can even give you an RFE during your interview. I've had to comply with an RFE after interview for as simple as an unticked box on the I-693. This document is usually sealed and attached in the record and I doubt they inspect it prior to the interview so if there is a mistake they catch it late in the day. When that happens they give you time to comply and if you don't do it in time they give you an NOID (notice of intent to deny). You can't truly breathe a sigh of relief that you are in the clear for an RFE until you're approved so just be on your toes in case.

Sein oder Nichtsein, das ist heir die Frage.

I've read that you usually just receive one RFE for multiple things (if more than one) or would they send out separate RFEs for different things?

We got an RFE at the interview because we didn't have my husbands long form birth certificate.. Until you get that magic green card in your hands, they can always ask for more info.

I wouldn't worry about it.. Many people go through the process with no RFE's.

I feel like I covered everything but I'm just worried about feeling too comfortable. I just want to get my EAD asap so that's the only reason I was asking as I really can't afford to have this process delayed further. If I get an RFE after that for the I-485, then it wouldn't be as big of a deal.
