My wife is Russian with a green card. Her daughter who still lives in Russia and goes to the University wants to come for a one month visit in the spring. She intends to apply for an immigrant visa when she finishes her studies in a year or so.

Would it be easier for her to get a tourist visa if she has already applied for an immigrant visa (while the immigrant visa application is being processed) or is it easier to simply get her a tourist visa, have her vacation and let her return to Russia before she applies for an immigrant visa?

I can see arguments either way, but second guessing the INS is a tough game smile.png

Thanks in advance for any pointer.

It's a case by case situation of course! and its totally up to the interviewer..
But i for one, got my B1/B2 visa while my F2A was still processing.. i understand that this is not the norm..
