Biometrics and interview

We received a letter for my spouse to have a biometrics appointment. Do they ask any questions there or is it just to get fingerprints? If not, would they schedule an interview while we are there or does a letter come in the mail with the interview date? Thanks!

Hi, at the biometrics appointment they will only taking fingerprints & a photo. Your interview appointment will come to you in the post & that will be sorted out by the center that's dealing with your case.

Biometrics entails the taking of an applicant's fingerprints and photograph to verify identities or checking entries on their data base. This procedure is usually done at an ACS (application support center) which deals specifically with biometrics. You can go there at your appointed date (or do a "walk in" earlier than scheduled) hand them your appointment letter and foreign passport, and wait to be processed (fingerprints and photo). It takes no longer than 15 minutes depending on the volume of people there with appointments.

The biometrics usually happens as a matter of course a few weeks after you submit your AOS application. The interview letter (assuming you get one and it is not waived) comes a lot longer than that.

Yes, just fingerprints and a photo. You will get the interview appointment later in the mail.
