I'm a 45 year old American citizen, my wife is a 27 year old Filipino citizen. Me and my wife chatted online for 1 year and 10 months before we met, we only met 1 time in person, I visited her in the Philippines for 21 days, we got married while I was there. My question is, would the age difference between me and my wife be a problem when she go's in for her interview at the U.S. Embassy for her U.S. visa? Thanks for your time.

I married my spouse in the Philippines in 2012. She was 19, I was 56. A huge age difference for sure. (She is here with me now and I am happy as a clam). Point being I went to Manila and entered the embassy with her for the interview. The CO actually asked me more questions than she did my wife. I answered honestly and after a few tense minutes the CO told my wife, "Congratulations, your visa is approved."

Now while no one can be certain I believe that my being there helped. Based upon the questions posed to me had I not been there I think the CO would have been suspicious and I doubt my wife would have been approved at that point. MY SUGGESTION: If at all possible attend the interview with your wife. It certainly can't hurt.

By the way. Rumor has it that there are employees assigned to watch the people waiting in the embassy prior to their interview. One can only assume that the dozens of cameras focused on you are being watched by staff members to see how spouses/fiances interact.

I believe if you are truly in love they will see that and your visa will likely be approved.

Good luck and GOD Bless

Thanks David and God bless you and your wife Zoila also, I'm happy for you both. I don't have enough money to go for another visit, we thought its a good idea to just be patient and save money. I hope the C Officer don't just assume that we don't love each other, we love each other more then anyone can imagine, she's my life. We need each other. If only the C Officer really knew everything we are going through and how we feel for each other, not a day go's by we're not chatting, we have our Skype video call on day and night, we know each other very well and truly are in love, I hope they don't think wrong, my wife and I have even talked about me living in the Philippines if she don't pass her interview and its fine with her, she don't care where we live as long as we're together, I feel the same way, I'd gladly give up anything for her.

You should be fine. Just tell your better half to be relaxed at the interview, tell the truth and there should be no surprises. Have her bring with all documents she has in her poessession in the original form and maybe additional photos, chat logs, etc. Oh yeah and thank God for skype. We were literally on 18 hours a day. We watched each other sleep...it saved me that's for sure.

God Bless you both
