Hello VJ members! Just wanted clarification as I was reading from the USCIS website about fees for the I-485 plus the biometrics is $1,070 for my wife and her 2 children $635 each. According to the site, after 2007 if I filed for AOS, I dont have to pay the I 765 and I 131 fees? I hope Im getting this info correctly. Thank you

Thanks Merrytooth. Would that be okay too if I filed for EAD and AP for my step children( ages 5 and 11)?

Yes. K-2 entrants need the EAD or green card to get an SSN, so you should file those for them too in order to get their SSN sooner. And if something happened and they needed to travel outside the US, then they would also be covered by having the AP to re-enter the US.

That's exactly what we did for my stepson in order for him to get his SSN. The other option for K-2's is to wait for the GC.
