I guess it depends on how the CO sees both petitioner and beneficiary. The question was never came up during my interview maybe because my fiance is in the military and can't move to my country since he has to follow the order where he will be stationed in the future. I worked as an editor and probably that was the CO pictured on me that I could work remotely from home. These a few from several questions that the CO asked me:

  • Question: So you'll have your wedding in the US, which state?
  • Answer: We will have our wedding in Key West, Florida, since he is now stationed there
  • Question: You are a journalist and editor. Do you have a plan what you will do after you come to the US? working as a freelancer?
  • Answer: Yes, that is one of our plans. But, I will working after get done with the immigration papers and allowed me legally working in the States. (Actually, I had a feeling it was a tricky question to get my answer whether I know about the rules or not, content.gif )

I did the same thing you are doing, stressing about potential interview questions. When it was all said and done, the CO at the embassy in Bucharest asked two questions, how did you meet, what are your wedding plans. If they ask you the question you asking about just tell them because you want to get married in the U.S. If they ask why...tell them those are the plans you made. This is really all that you need to say.

I would say - "K-1 visa gives us 90 days for consideration after the arrival in the US. I would like to live together with my fiance under the same roof and to figure out what kind of person he is on his own territory. That's why I am only planning to marry in the US after living together a couple of months."

I assume you are being sarcastic here. This would be a terrible choice.
