Not to me, sounds like this guy was stupid for grabbing the gun and shooting at the cop. I'm from STL, stories of black folks getting killed by the police over stupid stuff is nothing new. Here is my point:

http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Police-Man-who-fired-officers-gun-at-city-hall-was-high-on-mushrooms-217499791.html

They showed an incredible amount of restraint for a teen high on drugs, who got his hands on a gun and fired a shot. If this dude was black, he'd be dead.

He never fired a shot at the cop, and he was in his own garage.

The link in your article is for the childhood crime. Link the crime so I can read it, misunderstood what you posted.

No problem, this guy wasn't too bright reaching for his gun like that. Maybe because I'm black and I know how easy it is for us to be portrayed as dangerous, when I'm stopped for any reason, I keep my hands on the wheel and make no uncertain movements.

Some of the responses in this thread crack me up. It's almost like some WANT to believe that racism is more prevalent than it really is. I wonder why that is? That's a serious question BTW.

What responses implied that to you? I'm not seeing it.

Is believing the "study" was flawed the same as wanting to believe that racism is more prevalent than the study shows?

Why?

OK so here's my take. I beleive that it is in some folks best interest make sure that racism is alive and well, and I'm not talking about the racists. I get the feeling that any data that shows that racism is actually not as prevalent as some would like to believe, is immediately attacked as skewed, and invalid.

And just to make sure that people know that racism is alive and well, some here will post random articles about how some guy got his a$$ beat by the cops, or some person is falsely acused of shoplifting. Sine that person happened to be a minority, then it must be racism. People can choose to make their lives better by looking forward, or they can stay pi$$ed about things that happened 50-200 years ago. Up to them. Me, I'm going to take Obama's advice:

Your second paragraph - I agree 100%.

The first paragraph, not so much. I don't think this map is BS simply because I want racism to be more prevalent. I think the map is BS because I don't believe what they're trying to measure can actually be measured.
