Good morning everyone,

Ok. Great things are happening, and hope the same for everyone, especially those waiting to join their loved ones here in the US. I know I am so anxious.

Well, we received the two letters from the NVC and we submitted the Online choice of address and agent form (DS-261) today. Should I submit DS-260 as well? so, what do we do now? Every time I read some articles, I see different things. Should we submit the Affidavit of Support (AOS) now? I am somewhat confused, as I am just anxious for him to get here.

Please advise me accordingly.

You submit the ds26o when requested. You still have to pay the fee for the affidavit of support and submit that first, then comes the ds260 and supporting docs. The NVC will email each step of the way and tell you the next steps

Oh is it a problem if I submitted the DS-261. I have not paid the fee for Affidavit of Support as yet.

The first email I got was stating this "You must now establish communication with the NVC by completing the Form DS-261, Online Choice of Address and Agent Form, which allows you to register an agent and your agent's contact information with the NVC. Your agent is a person you choose to receive communications from the NVC on your behalf. You may act as your own agent, or you may choose your petitioner, a family member, a friend, an attorney, an immigrant assistance professional, or any other person you trust to represent you."...etc etc

And a few moments later, I got this "The immigrant visa petition you filed for xxxx is ready for processing at the National Visa Center (NVC). Our records show that xxxx address is: xxxx If you need to give us a new address, please email nvcinquiry@state.gov or call us at 603-334-0700.

Your first step is to pay the Affidavit of Support (AOS) processing fee ($88.00 USD). If you have an attorney, we also sent an invoice to him or her. You should coordinate payment with your attorney of record so you do not pay the fee twice.....etc etc
I am now confused more what to do. Please help.

After ds-261 has been submitted

you have to pay the 88 dollars fee for the Affidavit of support, once Paid you have to mail your i864 form and the supporting documents of financial and income evidence.

in a few days more you will receive another email similar to that one stating the the Inmigrant Application fee is available to be paid, you pay 230 dollars and the form DS-260 will be available to be filled online and for you to send the civil documents that support your application (birth certificate, police certificate, etc..,)

It doesnt matter if you send one pacake of documents first, and the other one after..or if you send both packages at the same time...

first you choose and agent by filing ds-261

then you will pay affidavit of support fee and mail the i864 form and supporting documents

then you will pay ds 260 fee when invoiced to you, and after paying the fee you go online and fill out ds260 and mail supporting documents, meaning civil documents, and then just wait

Posted

usually the same day or day after..

always check your CEAC page, the Fee Payment part.. where you´ll see if your AOS and IV fees are available, and as soon as they are..you can pay them. After payment the processing can take a few days 3-5 ...when the status says PAID (or you know that the money has been withdrawn from the bank...) you are able to send the packages of documents to support each AOS and IV application to attaching to each one the Cover sheet that you´ll receive with the receipt of the payment (which has the instructions to follow)... you just did...

Oh ok. Even greater news. I am going to definitely pay that $88 now. Also, I just read that if I believe that my husband's interview date will be after the tax deadline of 2014, I would need to submit 2013 tax return as my most return with my supporting documents, is this true? I was just going to submit my most recent as 2012, but then I saw that.

Please advise.

Ok. So I checked my account and they took out the $88 for the Affidavit of Support and when I check the Department of State website, it still says "In process", I guess I have to wait until it says "paid" before I can submit it?

Another question, I just wanted to know where to submit the I-864EZ form, is the same address that is on the document cover sheet that was sent to me when I printed the receipt for the payment of the Affidavit of Support?

Hi, you don't need to wait till it shows "paid" before you send your AOS packet. I would send it as soon as I can. Just make sure you fill it out correctly. I saw a lot of checklists on I-864EZ even though it's supposed to be simpler than I-864. It takes 2-3 weeks upon receipt to process and accept the AOS packet (if there is no checklist).

You should submit your AOS packet (I-864EZ with supporting documents) to the address shown on the AOS barcoded cover sheet.

Since you are already at the NVC stage, you should follow this thread for more information: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/483206-nvc-filers-march-2014/. It's very helpful. Good luck on your journey.
