Hi all.

I had my medical last week and filed the ds form requested and the readiness for interview form.

Now is there a way to check if interview has been assigned?

Its just we have only ever recieved one correspondants from the embassy by post. I had to email regarding medical information and LND number which turns out was sent a month earlier and i never recieved it so im running behind and had a planned date of 28th march to leave..

I put my planned travel date on the form and im nervous if they send the letter i dont recieve it ill miss the interview like with the medical.

Kind regards

Lillico

Hey Lillico,

I had my medical on the 4th Feb but I'm still waiting for my interview date. I'm informed its usually given 6 weeks after your medical, and that they give you about a months notice so you can make travel arrangments to get to London.

You may find you won't even be advised by when you interview date is by the 28 March as they are taking 6 weeks to usually send out the notification. Ther are always exceptions to the rule especially if you have informed them that you need an earlier date. Maybe they might offer you a cancellation if they have any?

My advice prepare to wait at least 6 weeks from when they get your medical report from Knightsbridge and then a further 4 weeks before your actual interview date.

It is possible that they will take your travel plans into account and try to slot you in. Did you send a cover letter in that regard or just include it on the form as part of your submission?

We actually did not request an interview date in any sort of window of time but informed them when submitting the readiness for interview form, via a cover letter, that we were going to be in the South of England for a week while staying with my in-laws in order to go to our medicals in London and that we would, therefore, happily take even a cancellation in that week since it was easier for us to get to London from Wiltshire than from the Scottish Highlands (where we lived). I got a phone call just days later from someone at the Embassy inviting the kids and I to be interviewed the day after our medicals. We had not anticipated getting a spot since that was in July which is often a busy time for the Embassy with the influx of tourists and, I expect, some personnel being on vacation leave but they obviously saw some merit in our case and slotted us in.

So I guess you could get lucky as we did or you might have to wait the standard average number of weeks for it to be assigned. Incidentally it took almost two weeks from the interview date for our immigration packets to arrive so you need to factor that into your timescales too.

Best wishes

Laura

Hi lauradp

Thanks for your message. The readiness for was electronic. I guess I could send a letter, is that what you meant?

I sent a email to the embassy stating our intention but I have had no reply.

I worry about it being scheduled and I don't realise. It's ashame you can not check online, you receive a email or at least recorded delivery.

Would I send the letter direct to london embassy?

It looks like we have everything in place, originals of all docs, my wife and co sponsor affidavit of support and evidence of domicile for my wife etc..just curious was your interview just s formality?

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Nathan

I believe you can now try calling the NVC to find out about interview schedules. Until a month ago, you could call the DoS number, but they have stopped giving out that information there now and some have been told to call the NVC. You can try. I'm not 100% clear whether the NVC will hold that information for DCF cases though.

Thanks newgatejim.

I did email last week and they said I would hear within 4 weeks of submitting my readiness form.

So I'm nearly 2 weeks into that.

Ya it's crazy you can't at least check, they have the ability to check status through the nvc online but just says ready as my status.

I guess I wouldn't be so paranoid if it wasn't for only ever receiving one correspondence via the mail,

Plus makes life difficult with regards plans, our house sales is completing. Got container booked both of us have jobs to go to supposedly starting April

You are in the same position I assume.

Yep- very anxiously waiting for our interview. The whole way along, I have kept thinking 'once we reach x or receive x letter' i will feel much better about the whole thing... but that time never seems to come! Here's hoping that all of our paperwork is fine for the interview.

I hope you hear from them soon!

Ah! We submitted our readiness for interview forms via snail mail, hence the ability to enclose a covering letter.

Throughout the process we found that we were either not informed by email or by post, either just by one method or not all all in which case we had to phone the Embassy to get the code for sending an email.

To answer your other question, I guess our interviews were somewhat of a formality but still a necessary and legally required part of the process. Certainly the kids - although required to attend - were never involved in the interview process and I was asked the most basic questions about our marriage that it was apparent it was just a case of box checking. The man who dealt with me at the first window did comment about how unusual it was to deal with a couple who had been married for so long and had four kids together. I guess the four kids verified that our relationship was authentic!

For me the interview was stressful just because I was managing four kids and two backpacks full of paperwork and it was a tedious way to spend a few hours but the staff were really lovely and helpful and the process itself was straightforward and efficient. They did comment about how helpful it was that my paperwork was so well organised so I guess that is one tip.

Best wishes

Laura
