Hello, my fellow VJers! My husband and I finally got all of our stuff for our interview RFE together and we headed over to the office today to drop it off. When we arrived around 3:35pm, the security staff said that they were closed and there was no one to accept our paperwork (yikes, we could've sworn they closed at 4pm), but they were kind enough to ask who our IO was and they called the office to see if he would come and take our papers! Wow! Talk about a negative thing working out for the best!

So our IO actually came out to accept our papers and he clearly recognized us. He even seemed friendlier this time (now that he wasn't in a hurry to go to lunch!) and we handed our package to him, reminding him to stamp our RFE copy as proof of receipt as he had once advised us. He told us to give them 30 days and we should know whether my husband gets his GC or not.

On one hand, I think it's great that our actual IO received the paperwork as opposed to a random front desk clerk who doesn't know us, but if for some strange reason he just didn't like us, who knows what he'll do?

Honestly, this whole process has left me so numb. I will probably laugh really hard and loud if we get another RFE or a denial, especially now that we were able to include a bunch of photos of our big official wedding with 200 guests! What an insane journey this is.... The security guard at the entrance must've heard my deep sigh because he kindly said, "It'll be over soon. Takes awhile but it gets done."

I'll keep you guys posted either way. Thanks again for all the support. You all really helped me keep it together!

Thank you, KASH2011! My sister made a joke that our entire family (31 immediate members) will storm the office and stage a protest if we get denied! That would be interesting for our IO to deal with! ;-)

I had a rfe and says that have received for review since may. Anyone else have that and still get the waiver notice ? I also got the employment cards

I got my permanent resident card today in the mail. i had gotten interview waiver letter in june 30 and after 45 days i have card in hand.

Can any one explain please what is the difference between permanent resident card and Green card? thanks

A green card is officially known as "permanent Resident Card" or Form I-551. Green Card holders are officially referred to as Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR)! It's the same thing! Congrats on your approval!

Still waiting! Trying not to worry too much about the GC but it's still constantly in the back of my mind. I'm starting to suspect USCIS wants to give it to me as a Christmas present, they are so thoughtful! *sigh*

I am wondering, does a change of address have a negative influence on processing time?

I too am curious if a change of address (especially one that would switch your local field office) has a negative affect on your processing time.

It is not suppose to, but on my case, it did. I moved from KS to NC and I properly changed my address online, but USCIS assigned my interview to KS office. So, I needed to cancel that and reschedule, which delayed my process in about 2 weeks (they first schedule to July 1 in KS then again to July 17 in NC.

Wonderful news, VJers - we got texts this past week that my husband's "new permanent resident status has been registered", his "card is in production", and I believe this absolutely harrowing journey finally has a happy ending... at least until we apply for ROC in two years! I think a little angel was really looking out for us by allowing us to place our new evidence directly into the hands of our actual IO the week before, even though the office was officially closed! I mean, when does THAT ever happen?

I don't know what I'd do without your support and if I didn't have somewhere to vent and rant. I used this forum from start to finish and it helped immensely (not to mention saving me $1750 I might have had to spend on a lawyer)! I am so grateful for all of you... and for all the rest of you who are still waiting: GOOD LUCK!
