Thank you, sweet cakes! I haven't received anything today. But I'm pretty sure it's coming. I'm really relieved after the interview yesterday. Can't wait to get the card and go back to the SSA to change my name again. I tried to change the name last time and it's been a month. I haven't got the new SSN card yet. SIGH!! I hate government. :clock:

Ohh, I just received my new SS card in married name after 4 weeks (Changed last name on June 6). Hope you get yours soon as well. :)

Congrats, Lillyryu. These are the types of stories that made me feel like my husband and I were a shoo-in and pretty much why I lost my sh** that we didn't get our GC at our interview. My husband and I have decided to wait until after our big wedding party next Saturday to submit the RFE responses because we just don't even want to deal with it. I'll let you all know it how goes. I'm pretty much apathetic about it all now. *sigh*

Dragonmermaid!! I have just backread and saw your post about your interview. I'm so sorry to know that you had a negative experience with a jerk of an interviewer. Same thought as with Lillyryu, focus on the wedding party for now and get the RFE ball rolling afterwards. I'm sure your family and friends will be able to help in coming up with more relationship proofs such as affidavits and pictures [though the years]. ^_^

4 weeks? That's pretty long. Two weeks ago I updated my status for the SS and they told me that I actually still in my maiden name before the update (SS mistake) so my first SS card was on my married name while in their system saved my maiden name, isn't it weird? BUT that kind lady helped me to update it to my married name on the spot and I received my new SS card in the next 4 days.

btw, did you find a job yet?

I assumed you came to US under K-1 visa which mean you will have 50/50 chance of getting interview waiver. As far as I see from VJ's members, you might get interview waiver if your case is still acceptance for more than 2 months after biometric. It is not 100% sure but that applies for many cases I have seen.

Yes,i arrived on a K1 visa. the biometrics was 04/24/2014.

Yeah, I know, right?! Seems like 4-6 weeks is the standard waiting time for DHS verification (from reading). I received my original SS card in maiden name 4 days after applying, so this baffled me too. Great to hear though you have a positive experience with SSA. :)

As for the job hunting, next topic please! ... :D Yeah, no luck yet. On the verge of probably getting internship or maybe study, if I don't get anything within 3 months. But I am still hopeful. It's frustrating but just like with anything else in this process, we just have to be positive.

No luck with jobs yet here either, have applied to 6 places so far, was really hoping to get one at a Vet Clinic since that is my field, but have applied to the 3 here, one contacted me and said I could volunteer and if employment hours came up I would get them, so I have my first volunteer day on Friday...I really need a paying job soon though, my husband works full time right now so we are doing alright, but he starts school again the end of August & will be back to part time..so I really need something by the end of August! I have applied at other places as well, but have heard nothing yet. I check indeed.com multiple times a day hoping for something but there isn't much on there. We live in a big university town and I feel like I won't have much luck until students start going back to school & more full time jobs come up! Hoping for something that will let me go home for Christmas too.

I think I also got that same letter today. My husband's mum said a letter arrived for me at their house from the Department of Homeland Security. Weird because I updated my address months ago, and my EAD card came to my new address. Oh well. I'll go and check tomorrow but it fits the timeline.

Interview done yesterday and it was easy going. The officer was extremely nice from the beginning to the end. I was approve on the spot and I got a 10 years GC as we have been married for over two years. We brought our 2 years old daughter (very busy girl!) with us and, as she was all over the place, the officer said: "she is not bothering me at all". So, that made us feel a lot more comfortable. On the end, the officer even walked us to the elevator, holding our daughter on her arms...

Good luck for all of you.
