So, a little bit of (bad) action on our case:

May 06: I updated my address online, as we moved from Kansas to North Carolina

May 12: case was changed to T&I

May 13: change of address confirmed

May 22: letter sent with interview date to July 1

And guess what???

My landlord in KS got my interview letter!! They schedule my interview to Kansas City (1200 miles away), when I'm already in North Carolina for 3 weeks!!!

So today, I had my interview cancelled (on the costumer service)....

And now, waiting for USCIS to reschedule it.

Geez.. Sorry to hear about this. It's either their online system for confirmation is simply unreliable or the one who assigned your interview date in Kansas was just too fast. Ugh! Hoping with you that you get a new interview date scheduled soon.

Hey guys, This is probably off the topic, but it is related to the AOS process, and I was wordering if you guys could light me up ;)

So I got my EAD card on may 22 and it was issued on may 16. The first thing I did was to apply for my SSN the very next day. When they received my application, they gave me a letter saying that they were going to have to verify my documents so they could assign a SSN for me because my status was not updated by the DHS. it also said that such verification could take around 4 WEEKS!

I went to the SSA office agan today, and the same guy who processed my application said that my application was still pending and not verified and that I should have waited two weeks after I got my EAD to apply for my SSN and I could have had my number right away (He didnt tell me that when I first brought my application - I felt like yelling at him). After that, of course he said that theres nothing I could do but to wait for the verification process to end and then to wait for my card.

My questions are:

Is there anything I can do to try to get my number faster that those ridiculous 4 weeks?

Should I contact the USCIS since that guy said that my status hasnt been updated after I got my EAD?

The company who gave me this job offer over a month ago needs my SSN to process my background check. I was never aware that this delay could happen as many of the people here get their numbers right away. I am so desperate now...

Thank you.

Hi everyone,

My wife came to US under K-1 visa and she filed AOS, EAD, and AP on 3/17/2014. She completed her biometric on 4/21/2014, however all her applications are still at " acceptance" status. Is anybody here in the same situation with my wife? I saw many applications changed to Testing and Interview few weeks after biometric appointment. I do understand that each case is different from one anothers.

Also, I checked NBC processing time and this is what they stated" you can submit inquiries after your I-765( EAD) application is pending more than 75 days. Her 75 days will be next Monday or so. When I clicked on E-request, there is no I-765 but they do have I-131. I-131 is 3 months timeframe so I cant submit E-request for this form yet. Do we have to call USCIS to submit inquiry for I-765? She got a job offer so we want to have EAD as soon as possible.

New Journey AOS:

My fiancee came to US on the 8th of March, 2014 under K-1 visa at Newark, NJ Airport for POE.

Applied Social Security Number on the 10 of March, 2014.

Married on the 13th of March, 2014.

Sent I-485, I-765, and I-131 on the 15th of March, 2014.

Received EAD on June 7, 2014.

Received Notice of Potential Interview Waiver on July 1, 2014 date 6/27

Contacted Ombudsman on 01/12/2015.

Ombudsman contacted USCIS on 02/20/2015.

Ombudsman sent a follow up to USCIS on 03/18/2015.

I-485 approved on 03/31/2015 ( we ordered your card).

Welcome notice was mailed on 04/01/2015.

I basically have the same timeline, biometrics done April 21st as well. I wouldn't worry about it! I'm not expecting my EAD until sometime in June, & with us being K1s, it is possible we will have an interview waiver, since the status hasn't changed to Testing & Interview. Though since she has a job offer I have heard of people getting their EAD expedited.

Thanks for replying. To be honest, I dont like interview waiver because it would take longer to have GC. Therefore, ROC will push back again.

I was thinking to submit expedited request based on financial loss, but I think they might not accept.

However, if you check NBC processing time, then you will see 75 days mark where we can submit inquiry.

Good luck with your applications.

Yes that is the bad thing about the waiver. As long as I have my EAD & AP, I don't mind waiting for the green card, but I don't want it to take long enough that I have to renew the EAD. So it would probably just be easier to have the interview! Hopefully it all works out.
