Hi there guys. We have been working on our K1 visa application for the past three years, (long story, don't ask!), and we're finally in the home straight, having just recieved word that our visa has been sent to the US Embassy in London. However, I have just realised that my passport will expire in a couple of months!

I realise I'll need to get a new one ASAP, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows if there is a specific procedure I'll need to follow in regards to the visa. Will I need to notify the Embassy about my passport renewal? Will this cause a delay in the process? Is there any specific agency I need to contact?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Cant say for certain how things work in the UK.......however... I know here in the States u can get an expedited and for that matter a same day Passport. I would just google it... I am sure there is a way to get an expedited passport...it will cost more, but in your case..I would say it is worth it...

GOOD LUCK!!!!!

At the embassy during your medical and interview you will present your passport. They stamp it. So just get a renewal by then.....

GOOD LUCK !!!

I am aware I can get a new passport quickly, and likely will do so. What I'm not sure about is whether getting my passport changed will cause any issues with the visa in progress. As far as I can tell, they haven't asked for my passport number yet, but I know that this will change with a new passport. Will a new passport delay my visa at all?

They will not attach a visa to a passport unless there is more than 6 months of validity left before it expires. I believe you can still do the interview but you'll get a 221g telling you to send a new passport.

It won't hurt anything to get a new passport. Just do it. If you have the option to keep your old one, I would do that, just for continuity, in case the old passport number is in your file somewhere... You can bring it along to the interview to show that was the old one and now here's the new one.

Is your timeline updated?
