Hi..i am new to this and need some advice. I am probably jumping ahead here, but I need some advice.

I am planning (or was depending on answers here) on filing an I-130 for my husband of twelve years. We have been living together abroad for the past 11. 1/2 years. We have two sons, both have US citizenship through me. We wish to move to the US for a number of reasons, the biggest is that I need to move close to my mom to help care for my aging grandmother. My husband would like to live in the uS as well, at least for a time, and get his citizenship. I have been preparing to file, when I came across what may be a HUGE Hurdle...and I am at a loss of how to proceed.

About five years ago, my husband had a mental breakdown due to some major problems with he and his brothers business, meanwhile we had some serious marriage trouble and it got so bad that while I was away in the US, he attempted to take his life and has a visible scar. It was an awful time, but now, almost five years later, that is behind us. He gave up his business and we left our current country and went to do some volunteer work in another country for 3 years, while he also worked. Now, we are back in his home country, wanting to go thru consular processing (that is why we returned) but after reading about possibly bring inadmissable, i am afraid to proceed...right now we travel back in forth as a family to visit and i am afraid of not only bring denied the green card! but also not even bring able to visit the US.

Also, he saw a doc in the beginning, but did not anymore after we moved, and so frs. has had no need to...if he seriously did have the need he would go! but like i said, it was a HUge mistake, a horrible time and we as a family and he as a person have moved on and healed. But unfortunately the visible scars remain. I am so upset and at a loss as to how to proceed?

Your husband would have to declare his mental breakdown/scars during the medical exam, and then proceed from there to see if psychological evaluation exam is needed.

Merrytooth is correct. It's quite likely that he will need at least a medical declaration from a psychologist or his family doctor saying he is no longer a threat to himself or anyone else. It's quite possible that a full psychological assessment may need to be submitted as well.
